Perils abound for southern Taiwan land crabs
July and August is the peak reproductive period for land crabs on the Hengchun Peninsula. But as this critical time approaches, conservationists worry that one population of crabs in the area faces destruction. Tonight we take a closer look at these incredible creatures and the factors that could lead to their demise. Each lunar year, in the seventh or eighth month, land crabs head to the sea at Kenting National Park. It's time for them to lay eggs.It's a difficult journey for the mother. With a protruding belly, she needs to pass through thicket and cross over sand. After the Special Joint Sitting of the House of Representative and Senate this morning, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen returned to Belize City for a brief visit of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Center. The strong diplomatic bond that has been forged between both nations was built on bilateral cooperation and financial assistance in different sectors such as education. A portion of Taiwan’s financial assistance has greatly benefited the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Center and today a grant proposal was officially approved for the renovation of ITVET’s library and research center. A small ceremony was held this afternoon where education ministers from both nations addressed the gathering.

On Monday, Panama severed diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) and in the same breath it announced it was establishing ties with the People’s Republic of China. President Carlos Varela said he believes in a one China policy and that there are strong economic interests with China which is the second most important customer of the Panama Canal. The Government of Taiwan issued a statement saying that they had closed their mission in that country. But will there be a trickle-down effect on the five other countries in Central America who maintain relations with Taiwan and is China courting Belize? Today the DPM responded to that query
대만 여행, 맹갑 용산사
대만의 ‘용산사(龍山寺)’는
타이베이에서 가장 오래되고 유명한 사원이나
'용산사'라는 이름을 가진 사원이 대만에는 매우 흔하다고 한다.
그래서 대만에서는 '용산사'라는 절 이름 앞에
지역명을 붙여 구분하여 부른다고 한다.
타이페이 완하구의 '용산사'는
‘작고 긴 통나무배들이 모이는 곳’ 이라는 옛 지명 ‘맹갑(艋舺)’을
붙여 '맹갑 용산사' 부른다.
절이 매우 화려하고 기와에 용과 봉황의 장식들이 있다.
2차세계대전 당시 맹갑 용산사는
주민들의 피난처로 이용되었는데
어느날 하루는 모기떼들이 극성을 부려
주민들이 집으로 돌아갔는데
그날 저녁에 미군이 용산사를 총통부 건물로 오인해
폭격을 하였고 절이 모두 무너졌는데
본전의 관세음보살상만이 멀쩡히 남았다고 한다.
이에 주민들은 용산사의 관세음보살살의 영엄함을 믿고
타이페이에서 가장 이름난 사원이 되었다고 한다.
용산사 왼쪽 끝에는 항상 사람들로 붐비는데
그 이유는 관성제군(關聖帝君)과 월하노인(月老神君) 때문이다.
관성제군은 관우로 현재 도교에서는 재물의 신으로 일컬어지고 있다.
그래서 항상 재물복을 기원하는 사람들로 북적인다.
월하노인의 경우 붉은 실을 주머니에 넣고 다니며
결혼할 인연의 발목을 붉은 실로 이어준다는 신이다.
이에 항상 젊은 참배객들로 붐비는 곳이다.
‘부아베이’라고 불리는 반달모양의 2개가
한 쌍인 붉은 색 나무토막이 있다.
기도를 한 후 이 ‘부아베이’를 던져
2개가 모두 같은 면이 나오면 신이
‘No'를 했다는 의미로
다시 2개가 서로 다른 면이 나올 때까지 던져야 한다.
2개가 다른 면이 나오면 신이 ’YES'했다는 의미로
그때 월하노인 앞쪽에 있는 통에서
붉은 실을 가져올 수 있다.
그 붉은 실은 몸에 지니거나
지갑에 넣고 다니면 인연을
만날 수 있다고 한다.

Day 12 Part 2 Thailand Trip Koh Phi Phi (Maya Bay, Sharks, Snorkeling)
Special thanks to our awesome guide Beyonce and the 3 Brother's crew.
This is my 22 day backpacking trip through Taiwan and Thailand. I visited Taipei for 3 days and the rest was spent in Thailand. I started in Bangkok and headed southwest. I stayed in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, and Koh Lipe. I also visited other islands on day trips during this island hopping adventure. I tried to document as much as I could without it affecting my travels and I also tried to stay at one place no more than a couple days. The food was great and the beauty of the countries and every location is hard to describe in words. I recommend visiting all of these locations if you have time.
If you have any questions or need travel advice feel free to comment. I have been planning this trip for over a year and plan to go back to explore the north and the southeast of Thailand next.

Staying Fit While Traveling in Tulum, Mexico
This video is about staying fit while budget traveling in Tulum, Mexico. How to eat healthy, exercise, and have fun while traveling.
Any traveller knows staying fit while traveling is difficult. Most think it is impossible. I know you can do it and will give you the step by step instructions for specific popular budget travel destinations.
Follow me in this video as I travel to the activity rich city of Tulum.
Explore Cenotes, hike the Tulum runs, relax on the beaches and party it up in the city. Plenty of activities to keep you occupied for at least a week.
Accommodations:
Hostel Che Tulum is a great option because of its proximity to the beaches, ruins, gym and supermarket. At $9USD per night it is a great budget destination. Also it provides breakfast and has a great party scene virtually ever night.
Food:
Breakfast is free through the hostel and stick to the fruit, eggs, and coffee. Stay away from the cereal. Get all of your groceries from the supermarket. The deli has an excellent selection of healthy options and well as a salad bar.
Gym:
Evolve gym in one block from the hostel. It has a great verity of equipment and offers group fitness classes as well. It is rather expensive at 150MXD for day passes. Your best deal is going with a week (350MXD) or 2 week (600MXD) pass. If you travel to Playa Del Carmen next, as most people do, they have an additional location there so you can continue to use your pass.
Daily budget cost:
Accommodations: $9
Activities: $Free - $120 (Scuba Diving)
Breakfast: Free
Lunch: $5 (Grilled chicken, rice, and salad)
Diner: $5 (Grilled chicken, rice, and salad)
Water: Free - included in your accommodations
