Culloden Viaduct
Culloden viaduct is an Impressive structure that spans the Nairn Valley and is built on a curve. Each side of the viaduct is highly banked on the approaches.
It was designed by Murdoch Paterson and was opened in 1898. The viaduct is the largest of its kind in Scotland with a length of almost 1800 feet. It is built from Sandstone and has 28 arches that are 50 feet wide each with the only exception being the arch that spans the river Nairn, which is 100 feet wide.
It is crossed many times a day by all rail traffic heading to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands from the Southern stations of Scotlands rail network.

The Beast of Culloden Moor
Deltic D9000 takes the return of the SRPS Kyle Crusader Raltour across Culloden Viaduct on 28th May 2011.
Making an impressive pace (and roar) up the climb towards Slochd. Seems to be saying 1 in 60? Where???.
Great to see a Deltic in full cry again!

(HD) 46115 Scots Guardsman Sensationally storms over Culloden Viaduct

Thought this was definitely worthy of a separate video!
46115 Scots Guardsman Storms over Culloden viaduct with a good few whistles on The Great Britain V.
We thought she may coast over and give a whistle or two but the power she gave over the viaduct was totally unexpected. Not sure if this video does it justice yet.
Notice the rain starting up and increasing in intensity through the video! But well worth getting soaking feet!
With thanks to My Gran and Grandad for having us and also for paying the petrol.
Seriously tempted to go back up for Tornado at the end of May, I'd love to see her cross that!
Enjoy!
55022 Royal Scots Grey Powering over Culloden Viaduct
Here we see 55022 Royal Scots Grey passing over Culloden Viaduct, near Inverness.
Could hear her a while before, hence the long intro.
First time I've seen her, and will definitely not forget! Need to see more deltics now!
Video quality is pretty rubbish now, sure it wasn't this bad before but sound is still there!
Enjoy! (I know I did!)

Caldedonian Sleeper over Culloden viaduct
This is the first video from my large collection of videos from a 3 week holiday in Scotland. Its not just trains, as you'll find out once I sort them out.
With this being one of the shortest, I thought I'd upload it now.
This features a long awaited shot of the Caledonian Sleeper service to Edinburgh over Culloden Viaduct. I'm not 100% sure if thats the name but its a stunning viaduct anyhow.
I also wanted to get the East Coast HST service but just missed it (It passed as we were parking).
Lots more to come, including: Straphspey Railway, Glenfinnan, The Jacobite, The Royal Scotsman, Oban, Rannoch moor and more!
Enjoy!

The Great Britain XI - April 2018
The Great Britain XI ran between the 19th and 27th April 2018 and visited a whole host of attractive destinations, including Scarborough, the Kyle of Lochalsh, the Lake District and Swanage. For the first time in a few years, I chased the 'GB' with a video camera, and these are my results.
Details of all the locomotives and their routes are in the video, but locations are listed below. Thanks must go to everyone at the Railway Touring Company, West Coast Railways, to all of the locomotive owning groups (and their volunteer crews), catering teams and anyone else who I may have missed for putting on such a fabulous display of steam.
Locations include:
Day 1 - Whittlesea and Temple Hirst Junction (both 60103 Flying Scotsman)
Day 2 - Seamer (60103), Colton Junction, Selside (both 35018 British India Line) and Abington (45690 Leander and 45699 Galatea)
Day 3 - Linlithgow viaduct (ECS move), the Forth Bridge (both 61264), Drumochter, Dalwhinnie and Slochd summit (61264 and 45699 Galatea)
Day 4 - Inverness, Fodderty, Corriemoillie summit, Achanalt, Loch Gowan and Attadale (all 61264)
Day 5 - Culloden viaduct, Findhorn viaduct, Drumochter (Balsporran cottages), Dunkeld bank (all 45699 and 61264) and Blackford (45699)
Day 7 - Ripley bank (35018), Knucklas viaduct and Sugar Loaf (both 45212)
Day 8 - Claverton, Witham Friary (both 45212), Evershot summit and Bincombe bank (both 31806 and 45212 top/tail)
Day 9 - Foxhills and Petersfield (both 45212)

46115 Roars on the Highland Mainline
46115 Scots Guardsman once again stormed over the Highland Mainline, taking the SRPS's Aviemore & Inverness Railtour from Edinburgh to Inverness on the 30th June 2012. The route would take in Drumochter, Slochd and the Tay Rail Bridge under its stride in one day. We filmed the footage from The Tay bridge all the way to Inverness and four shots are shown here. Starting with the steep climb out of Dunkeld, Scots Guardsman storms through the cutting with the three cylinder beat clearly heard. Next, it's the northbound assault of Drumochter, where 46115 easily blitzes the summit. Now on the return journey, 46115 is seen crossing the magnificent Culloden Viaduct, where the regulator is clearly in the fully open position. Finally, we jump to my last shot of the day outside Dunked where 46115 is seen powering the 1 in 80 at Dunkeld Bank (birnam).
Many thanks for watchig,
