Looking for somewhere near the sea, with the best surfing in Europe, in
a village with charm, shops and restaurants, a walk from a fabulous
lake for swimming, with access to hundreds of kilometres of cycle
tracks AND a good holiday letting proposition at a price that?s
manageable? Look no further! Looking for somewhere near the sea, with
the best surfing in Europe, in a village with charm, shops and
restaurants, a walk from a fabulous lake for swimming, with access to
hundreds of kilometres of cycle tracks AND a good holiday letting
proposition at a price that?s manageable? We think we might have just
the thing! This modern, 2 bedroom duplex cottage apartment is one of
four in the building. It is situated in beautifully maintained gated,
communal gardens of 2500m2 (0.61 of an acre) and the property has its
own private garden of 55m2 as well. The current owners not only make
use of it for their own holidays but also let it, the income being
around 7/8,000 per annum. The outgoings are low ? the local taxes
amount to 530 annually with an extra 118 for the television licence.
Satellite television, broadband and telephone are installed. Most of
the contents are available for sale separately. The accommodation
consists of 2 good-sized bedrooms with fitted wardrobes, a shower room
with WC and a living room of approximately 25m2 with open-plan fitted
kitchen. There is a ground floor cloakroom with WC. French windows lead
out to the terrace, a deck and the garden behind. To the side, there is
a lovely sunny patio. A fence and pergola, covered in climbing plants,
lends privacy and offers a tranquil and beautiful space in which to
relax, chill out, eat, drink, listen to the birds, sunbathe or
barbecue. There is also lockable storage in an outbuilding. The
property is just a 2 minute walk to all the amenities of the village
which has a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants as well as a
cinema. There is also a large lake with a beach which is just a 10
minute walk. The nearest beach is 6km - about 10 minutes in the car or
a cycle ride on the cycle tracks through the forest. The Cte Landaise
stretches from the Dune du Pilat to the north, near Arcachon, to the
Adour estuary at Bayonne, a natural playground of hundreds of
kilometres of ocean beach, forest trails and shimmering lakes,
interspersed with family-friendly resorts such as St Girons Plage,
Vieux Boucau and Moliets Plage and all-year-round towns such as Leon,
Capbreton, Soustons and Europe's undisputed surf capital, Hossegor. The
jewel in the crown is Biarritz ? chic and lively and adored by the
Parisians. And if all of that is not enough to keep you occupied, the
Spanish border and the ski stations of the Pyrenees are just a short
drive. A wide variety of water sports is available locally and there
are countless kilometres of cycle and walking trails. Golf and
horse-riding are also easily accessible. The vineyards of Bordeaux are
a pleasant day-trip away. Landais and Gascon cultures mingle towards
the north with the celebrated Bordelais cuisine and to the south, with
Basque and Spanish influences, making for great variety in the local
restaurant menus. The natural environment, range of activities and, of
course, exceptional beaches, make the Cte Landaise a fantastic holiday
destination. Access to the region is easy with flight connections to
numerous UK destinations from the nearby airports at Biarritz, Pau and
Bordeaux. For those who prefer a more leisurely progress, there is the
Portsmouth/Santander ferry or Eurostar from London connecting with the
TGV network to Bordeaux or Biarritz.

Girona to Biarritz Bike Adventure Stage 6
Thanks to our client Tristan Cardew for the video & comment...
The 6th and final day of Eat Sleep Cycle's Girona to Biarritz tour was our last leg of the journey and would, as the name suggests, land us right in the heart of Biarritz. A gentle start from Arette with relatively flat roads was the perfect warm up before flat-stage breakaway-specialist David O'Brien (6'4 and 180mm cranks..) did what he did every other day when the road wasn't going uphill and charged off the front with Benny Cassidy and David Conroy hanging onto his wheel, taking maximum points in the non-existent race for guy who can reach 60kph the fastest, seated, not on a descent. So with those three up the road and 1200 TSS in my legs from the previous 5 days of climbing cols (that's my excuse anyway..) I decided sitting in and having a chat with Lee and Louise was a much more enjoyable way to end the adventure, and did exactly that. Upon arrival into Biarritz we were greeted with an unfamiliar and all too unwelcome sight of traffic jams and roundabouts, but eventually made it to the beach where a well-timed champagne pop and arrival speech by Brian was waiting, before we all jumped in the Atlantic to cool off. Job done. 6 days, 650k's, 11 categorised cols, 16000 meters of climbing, 18 bottles of wine, zero (ZERO) mechanicals, umpteen coffees and plenty of smiles.
As i've mentioned a bunch of times over the past week, this is the first multi-day tour Eat Sleep Cycle have run and while it could've been a shambles, it went off without a single hitch thanks to the hard work of the three legends running the show. Always professional, always open to suggestions, always willing to accommodate our every need. It's been an absolute blast and i'm so stoked I was able to partake. Hopefully these 6 videos have summed up the vibe of the event, and I look forward to being a part of another adventure soon.
