Kefalonia Ancient Krani, Ancient Cyclopean walled city
Ancient Cyclopean wall that surrounded the ancient city of Krani near Argostoli in Kefalonia. It is disputed that this may have been the City of Odysseus and this Island may have been the original Kingdom of Ithaki and not the small island of Ithaki that now exists.. Its amazing that the Greek authorities have not yet excavated this site, It must be full of wonders.

Τα κυκλωπεια Τειχη στο χωριο Ρατζατα απεναντι απο το Αργοστολι ειναι εποχης ΟΔΥΣΣΕΑ και αποτελουν μερος του βασιλειου του το κεντρο του οποιου πρεπει να ηταν η Κεφαλονια καθως περα απο τα ΤΕΡΑΣΤΙΑ ευρηματα Μυκηναικης εποχης που βρισκονται στο νησι .Αλλωστε κι ο Ομηρος τον αναφερει ως βασιλεα Κεφαλληνων στην αναμονη του στρατου στην Αυλιδα καθως επισης και ο Θουκιδιδης αναφεροντας μαλιστα οτι ειχε 12 ερυθρα πλοια κατα την εισβολη στο Ιλιον (Τροια).Υπαρχουν ΠΟΛΛΑ στοιχεια που σχεδον αποδεικνυουν οτι η Κεφαλονια ηταν η Ομηρικη Ιθακη (ειτε μιλαμε για περιοχη Ταννατων Πορου οπου βρισκεται ο βασιλικος Μυκηναικος ταφος μοναδικος στην Ελλαδα) ειτε στην περιοχη του Ληξουριου οπου βλεπει προς Δυτικο Ωκεανο που ελεγε κι ο Ομηρος) η που αποκλειουν τις πιθανοτητες να ηταν το βασιλειο του καπου αλλου.Το βασικοτερο στοιχειο λοιπον ειναι η περιγραφη του βουνου Νηριτον (Αινος) για τον ογκο του οποιου ηταν πολυ περηφανος ο Οδυσσεας κι εκανε συχνα αναφορες στο μεγεθος του κλπ.Σε Ομηρικο υμνο προς τον Απολλωνα αναφερεται μαλιστα οτι το ορος Νηριτον ηταν καθαρα ευδιακριτο απο την αρχαια πολη Φερρες (σημερινο Κατακολο Πελοπονησου).Οποιος παει στο Κατακολο βλεπει τον Αινο πεντακαθαρα και σαν ενα σπυρι μικρο ΟΛΟΚΛΗΡΗ την τωρινη Ιθακη η οποια ονομαστηκε ετσι απο τον Λορδο Βυρωνα και μεχρι τοτε την αποκαλουσαν Μικρη Κεφαλονια (Pico Cefalonia).Να μην λησμονουμε και τα λογια του Τηλεμαχου οταν πηγε να βρει τον βασιλεα Μεντωρ (βασιλεα των Ταφιων οι οποιοι ηταν στο Ληξουρι στην περιοχη που ειναι τα Κηπουρια σημερα και ανεφερε οτι ΔΕΝ χρειαζεται πλοιο για να πας εκει απο την Ιθακη.Καθως επισης και το οτι ο πατερας του ΟΔΥΣΣΕΑ ο ΛΑΕΡΤΗΣ ηταν απογονος του ΚΕΦΑΛΟΥ (ιδρυτη της Κεφαλονιας).Αρα και ο ΟΔΥΣΣΕΑΣ απογονος του Κεφαλου
The Cyclopean Walls in the village Ratzata across of Argostoli in Kefalonia are ruins from the era of was of Troy..Odysseus walked here 100%..Kefalonia was part of his kingdom and probably the main center of his Kingdom (ancient Ithaca) since there are tooo many IMPORTAND ruins of Mycenean era.Comparing to the other Ionian islands there are too many in Kefalonia.Even HOMEROS (Homer) calls Odysseus as the leader of the KEFALLONIANS when the Mycenean army-fleet is waiting in Avlida Agamemno's order to attack to the city Helion (Troy).Green ancient writer Thoukididis also calls him as the leader of the KEFALLONIANS and he mentions that he had 12 red ships when he sailed to Troy.The possible locations in Kefalonia where ancient was,is the port of Poros where the glorious Mycenean ROYAL thomb exists (the 5th in size in Greece) where they found a royal ring of a Leo shape OR maybe in Lixourion where are also many ruins and walls of Mycenean age and the story matches with Homer's desciption of Ithaca that it was facing the Western Ocean and there were not many trees in that area or the fact that nearby was the Kingdom of King Mentor and Odysseu's son Telemachos mentioned you can go by walk from Ithaca to the land of Mentor (and we know Mentor was the King of Tafioi a race of the ancient Kefalonians located in Lixourion.Additionally keep in mind that Odysseu's father was from the family of KEFALOS the King who gave his name to Kefalonia island.One of the biggest proves that Kefalonia is the ancient Ithaca is the huge mountain Ainos (or Neriton at that time).Odysseus was so proud about it and its size and he was talking about it all the time.There is an ancient (Homer;s era) poem to God Apollon mentioning that the mountain Neriton was clearly seen by the city FERRES which was located in modern Katakolo port in Peloponesse..if you go there today you can see the mountain AINOS of Kefalonia standing Glorious and the WHOLE island of MODERN Ithaca looks so small comparing to that mountain.Additionally Ithaca isnt facing any Ocean especially Western..since on its West is Kefalonia and the AINOS mountain does not allow the viewer to see the West.Additionally Ithaca was given that name recently by the British Lord Byron.The previous name we kanow was Small Kefalonia.

Η χερσόνησος της Άσσου Κεφαλονιάς κυριαρχεί στο τοπίο – μαζί με την καταγάλανη θάλασσα φυσικά. Ενώνεται με το υπόλοιπο νησί από μια στενή λωρίδα ξηράς, έναν αμμώδη «λαιμό» όπως αναφέρεται, πάνω στον οποίο σήμερα έχει χτιστεί τμήμα του χωριού. Έχει διπλή κορυφή, με υψόμετρο 154 μέτρα, πάνω στην οποία χτίστηκε επί Ενετοκρατίας το Κάστρο της Άσσου και απότομες κατακόρυφες πλαγιές που καταλήγουν στην θάλασσα, ειδικά αυτές που βρίσκονται στην πίσω μεριά, προς το πέλαγος. Με την απέναντι ακτή του νησιού σχηματίζεται όρμος, που φιλοξενεί το απάνεμο λιμανάκι της Άσσου Κεφαλονιάς.
Το βενετσιάνικο Κάστρο της Άσσου ήταν ένα από τα δύο μεγάλα κάστρα της εποχής, μαζί με εκείνο του Αγίου Γεωργίου. Καθώς η απόσταση των 30 χιλιομέτρων που την χωρίζουν από το Αργοστόλι θεωρείται μεγάλη για ένα νησί, ενώ η διαδρομή περνάει από τα βουνά της Κεφαλονιάς, η δύσκολη σύνδεση με την πρωτεύουσα απέτρεψε την δημιουργία ενός ισχυρού κέντρου εδώ. Χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως φυλακή και σήμερα παραμένουν μόνο τα ερείπιά του.
The peninsula of Assos dominates in the landscape – with the clear blue sea, of course. It is combined with the rest of the island by a narrow strip of land, a sandy ‘neck’ as is mentioned, on which today has built a part of the village. It has double peak with an altitude of 154 meters, on which was built during the Venetian period the Castle of Assos and steep vertical cliffs that drop to the sea, especially those located in the back, towards the sea. On the opposite coast of the island is formed a bay that home the sheltered harbor of Assos.
The Venetian Castle of Assos was one of the great castles of the era, along with that of St. George. As the distance of 30 kilometers that separate it from Argostoli is considered long for an island, while the route passes through the mountains of Kefalonia, the difficult connection with the capital prevented the creation of a strong center here. It was used as a prison and now remains only its ruins.
