Croom Ghost Town in Withlacoochee State Forest (Part Two)
Croom was an old town that existed in the late 1800's into the early 1900's in Hernando County. Turpentine and logging were big industries in the area. A railroad line once went through the town and connected many other small towns in the area. The area was once known as Pemberton Ferry, the site was located near the Withlacoochee River. Today the area is part of the Croom Tract at Withlacoochee State Forest. When visiting please be respectful and leave all history as you find it, much of what was here is now gone but some remnants can still be seen. It is prohibited and illegal to remove artifacts from this forest. Watch Part One here:

4 Deer - Trail Cameras - Cypress Creek Natural Area, PBC, FL
2016.04.16, 8:45-8:51 am, 4 Deer walk in front of a trail camera. I had two planted in Cypress Creek Natural Area from 04.11 at 7 pm to 04.16 at 11 am. The footage I edited to 1:09 minutes, spanned about 6 minutes in real time. The two cameras were about 10 yards apart with the first one facing a trail (NE) and the second down an embankment, darkened by Cypress Trees (facing SW). The second camera picked up the 4 Point Buck scouting ways to go, but it does not seem they proceeded by the second camera, as he turns around.

Timberlane RV Park & Resort Bradenton Florida - near Sarasota
941-896-9744
Timberlane RV Park and Resort in Bradenton Florida offers full hookup RV sites for short and long term stays. Opened in 2015 the park is located 1 mile east of Interstate 75 on Florida 64. The park has large grass backin sites averaging 31′ wide by 63′ deep with paved roadways throughout the park. A very natural setting with large trees and thick vegetation surrounding the park. Two small ponds and a creek crossing the property combine with the lush vegetation and natural Florida feel to make this RV park a quiet place to get away or stay a while. A number of sites back up to the banks of the ponds along with walking trails, benches and natural shade trees bordering the non-RV sides.
A family owned and built location Timberlane is our recommended place to stay in Bradenton. A recently completed rec-room with games, book exchange, kitchen, large TV, restrooms and laundry are further backed by a heated swimming pool.
As of Jan 2017 the second phase is open with additional sites available to accommodate snowbirds and winter Floridians.
The park is conveniently close to shopping, dining, fuel stations and entertainment.
Wifi is available in the office. The park has partnered with the local internet and cable supplier to run hookups to each individual unit; long term guests can contract for their own dedicated lines.
A unique feature of the park, being built to newer codes, are the large site markers with addresses. At first look they are intimidating but the owners recognized the need to more easily backin to the RV sites. They devised a strategy to make the tall posts out of PVC with base holders; the large markers are easily picked up and removed for parking. A very nice touch that is carried throughout the entire location. This park is built with their guests in mind.
Note: travelers approaching from the east on Florida 64 need to perform a U-turn to reach the entrance. Alternatively contact the park for instructions for an easier loop not requiring a U-turn.

Dade Battlefield Reenactment
Here is a short video clip I took while watching the reenactment at Dade Battlefield Historic State Park in Sumter County. Every January, under the oaks of Dade Battlefield State Park, history lovers gather to commemorate the battle that started the Second Seminole War. On December 28, 1835, Indian warriors ambushed 108 U.S. soldiers at this site, and only three soldiers survived.
