Mount Strachan Hike in Cypress Provincial Park, West Vancouver
Mount Strachan in West Vancouver gets less attention than the other hikes in Cypress Provincial Park. While nearby hikes like St. Mark’s Summit and Eagle Bluffs draw big crowds, the trail to Mount Strachan sees fewer hikers. But, anyone who has hiked this loop will tell you the views are as spectacular as any other hike in the park.
There are probably a few reasons Mount Strachan’s lack of popularity. For one, the trail isn’t prominently marked like the other trails within Cypress. For another, the trail is steep and difficult in sections. Route-finding is difficult in other sections. Snow starts early in the winter and persists late into the year. When there is snow, avalanche risk exists. And bears are common in this area outside of winter. All of which means this is not a route for the inexperienced hiker.

Cypress Falls Park Hike in West Vancouver
Cypress Falls Park is a lesser known, yet impressive area of forest in West Vancouver. A walk through the trails of Cypress Falls Park takes you among some of the biggest trees you can find on the North Shore. The 300+ year old giants are rivaled only by the trees of nearby Lighthouse Park.
As Cypress Falls Park sits at a lower elevation, this hike is accessible year-round and is family-friendly. It is a great hike to save for an overcast or rainy day. Spring is the perfect time of year for a hike to Cypress Falls.

Hiking Beautiful BC Cypress Falls W. Vancouver
Exploring our backyard. We found an intriguing little spot on google maps and set off to explore. We never did find what we were looking for, but we did find an absolutely beautiful little valley with waterfalls and furry friends along the way.
Enjoy the hike.

Hiking Saint Mark's Peak in Cypress Provincial Park
I spent the week hiking with friends, taking photos, and making Vlogs.
This particular hike was a bit more interesting because we encountered snow on the trail. I also had the opportunity to introduce this trail to two friends who had never hiked it before.
Saint Mark's Peak is located in Cypress Provincial park just 40 minutes away from downtown Vancouver. Driving up the mountain, past a beautiful viewpoint, eventually making it all the way to the ski lodge. Summer parking is always easy to find. The trail starts just past the Olympic rings. There are clearly marked signs to help you get around.
I'd give this hike an overall 8 out of 10
•Beautiful views
•Safe, clearly marked trail
•Not too crowded
•Sometimes you get to see BEARS!
