62. The memorial house of Kunayev

The Nation is happy for having a son who is mindful of the country's past, and working for its future. For Kazakhstan this man was - Dinmukhamed Konayev. He is an outstanding political leader, diplomat, and academic. He had been at the pinnacle of power for 45 years, at the height of Soviet Kazakhstan. The museum was opened in January 2002 on Tulebaev Street 117. It was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the date of birth D.A. Kunaev. D.A. Kunaev’s museum consists of three exhibition halls. In the first room visitors get acquainted with the genealogy of Dinmukhamed, the conditions and the circumstances of his life. In the second room, visitors can see the personal belongings of D.A. Kunaev and gifts - from the Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, Shah Pahlavi of Iran, and the former US President D. Eisenhower. In the third hall, in some way Dinmukhamed’s office is reproduced as at Government House where he worked in 1950’s. Interest to the personality of D.A. Kunaev has not diminished over the years. Memorial Apartment-Museum” was opened on centenary of him living in that house.
Many famous people came to this hospitable house - political leaders and public figures, diplomats, writers, actors, athletes and ordinary citizens came to express their love and respect for this extraordinary man. D.A. Kunayev was declared as the Man of the Century. Not everyone receives this title. The people appreciated him, and still remember everything Dinmuhamed had done.

127. Kunayev’s monument

He was a prominent politician and public activist, a diplomat, an academician. He was ruling the state during 45 years.
The personality of Dinmukhamed Kunayev (1912-1993) was associated with the whole era of prosperity of the Soviet Kazakhstan. The memory of him is still alive in the hearts of many generations of Kazakhstan. He was the only member of Brezhnev’s Political Bureau who was awarded with the prize of the Hero of Socialism tree times.
In accordance with the law of USSR the citizens awarded with this prize twice were honored by the monument in their homeland installed in their favor at their lifetime.
That’s why the bust of Dinmukhamed Akhmedovich appeared at the crossroads of the street Bogenbay batyr and Kunayev in 1978. It was bronze cast and made in accordance with design made by the sculptors T.S.Dosmagambetov, A.B.Tatarinova, architects A.K.Kapanov, S.E.Valikhanov, I.Y.Tokar, B.V.Dmitriyevsky.
The monument is made in a unique traditional and classic style, its strict and laconic forms emphasize the stylistic uniformity of the sculptural and architect composition.
The museum of D.Kunayev and memorial apartment were opened in Almaty in honor of this great man. There one can learn a lot of information about the life of the man, whose name was memorialized in the history of modern Kazakhstan.
