The Museum displays what everyday lives would have been like, as well as the difficulties that people faced. It is fascinating to see a world very different from your own. The Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR) was formed after WWII from the Russian Sector of Germany, not including West Berlin. It was reunited with West Germany in 1990 after the fall of the Berlin wall.

The DDR Museum is an interactive museum in the centre of Berlin. The museum is located in the former governmental district of East Germany, right on the river Spree, opposite the Berlin Cathedral.

Berlin Museum Island and DDR Museum Berlin
Visiting the East side gallery in Berlin and exploring Museum island and the DDR Museum. Our last full day in Berlin is a busy one exploring the area around the Berlin Cathedral and going inside the hands on DDR Museum. We wrap up the evening with an authentic German dinner complete with pig knuckle in the historic Nikoli Quarter.

This is a true part of German history - whenever you are in Berlin and not just keen on having wild party nights, then visit the GDR - German Democratic Republic - museum which is all about the lifestyle back in a time of German separation. The lifestyle was kind of old-fashioned and dull, but people who grew up in that society were used to it and sometimes even loved it. Anyway, that doesn't mean that such kind of state was a good solution - it is great that Germany has become unified again in 1990. That was the beginning of a new era in our country.
Have a look at the impressions and learn something about the system of state security and special conservative traditions.
That sort of museum in Berlin is highly interactive, you will have the chance to be a part of that lifestyle when strolling through the time capsule.
