Besides there's definitely more variety & choices & e fashion is always at least 1 season ahead. left e hostel a bit later after a good night's sleep from e disney trip. tried a different breakfast outlet today, though not as good as our favourite haunt, it does have its own speciality, hand made fish cake/balls. It's more famous for it's beef balls though. see this cute girl? she's very bubbly & not afraid of strangers, she probably might end up being an actress/singer when she grows up. finally we arrived at tung chung MTR. check out their huge supermarket, u'll be spoilt for choice for groceries some of which u won't find back home. see, I got myself protein bars ! oh & use e octopus card pls. e biggest ESPRIT outlets are found here & e rest of e shops are around this size too. oh look, wifey's going in without me, haha.... wait for me..... had some ****** food from e local foodcourt. not posting e pic here cause it dun @@ quite appealing. today was also e 2nd or 3rd day that HK was hit w a suspected avian flu outbreak. some 10,000 chickens were hit w e suspected virus at a chicken farm at yuan lang, so e local govt stopped import of all live chickens till end of dec. food stalls selling chicken & related poultry were hit esp hard, I hardly saw any locals eat poultry. while having lunch, I spotted some anti communist (china) banners hanging right near e cable car station (it's also e stop where u take a bus to lantau island to see e great bronze buddha, see day 6) it looked ridiculous to me but e ppl distributing flyers down there sure dun look tat way to me, so I took these shots from e food court where I was. went to e nearby H & M outlet (central) in e evening. (this one u must go cause e clothes are affordable, nice designs & designed by Karl Lagerfeld !) e branch @ central is e largest flagstore with 4 storeys to boot (1 for guys, rest for ladies) we visited e one at Langham place, mongkok a few x & got quite a handful of stuff like jeans, clothes etc. ultasia/ today, I made e most terrible mistake of e entire trip. I wanted to see e longest escalators in e world at stanley street (mid levels travelator), so after H & M, we went to find it. Little did I know these escalators which made it to guiness world records is nothing more than a convenient form of transportation for ppl living around e area to get to & fro home & work. d-Levels_escalator it's convenient to go up by escalator but when u come down it's all stairs. although we were only up like 5 mins, but it seemed like forever as it was just up up up w no end in sight & along e way u can see e famous soho eateries (which were acutally located on both sides of e upslopes of e escalators instead of a designated area which I thought) In e end, we gave up after 5 mins & both of us were starving & tired, wifey reached e point where she could hardly walk. There wasn't really any affordable eateries around so we had to retrace our routes & fortunately there was a normal tea restaurant down by e slope (food was not exactly tasty but when u're hungry, who cares). Took a taxi back to Mongkok's ladies market where we did some therapy shopping & got some stuff for wifey to cheer her up. It's 1 of e 2 times in our trip that we took a taxi. It's not cheap ok, when I first boarded e taxi, I noticed e meter was stuck at HK$13, I thought it was spoilt & was kinda worried in a way as I was not familar w e route & would e driver drive us somewhere else? wifey was dozing & before I knew it, e meter was jumping like a kangaroo on crack. e ride cost me S$20. (E other time would be in macau, see day 5). Well, she did cheer up a bit & it was a happy ending. But still I felt really bad for bringing her ...Read and see more at: from this trip:1.
