The Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang
With their roots dating back as far as 192 AD, Vietnam's indigenous Cham people lived an Indian way of life in both culture and language. The Cham Museum in Danang is dedicated to this period and the Champa existence which began predominantly in the coastal areas of Vietnam. Housing the largest exhibition of Cham sculpture in the world, the museum displays almost 300 terracotta and stone works of art ranging from the 7th to the 15th centuries.

Da Nang Vietnam Museum of War - NZ Vlogging Couple Travel in Vietnam
We stumbled across a military museum in the Da Nang city centre and decided to check it out. So glad we did!
It had it's fair share of stuff about the Vietnam war, or the American war as they call it here, but that wasn't all they covered. There were displays on Vietnam's current battles with China, over the fishing of it's oceans and ownership of some islands and exhibits going right back to to the first battles with French colonists.
It certainly has it's elements of propaganda, just like any Vietnam museum of war, but go for the visual displays and take what is read with a pinch of salt and you'll be entertained.
As well as the military museum, there is a building that houses info and memorabilia of Ho Chi Minh the man, as well as a life size replica of his famous house.
If you find yourself in Da Nang with some time to spare, go check it out.

We are Leon and Tash, a New Zealand vlogging couple who set off on an amazing Vietnam adventure as fulltime travellers, backpacking Vietnam. But we weren't going to travel to Vietnam for one of those ordinary backpacking Vietnam trips you hear about everybody doing, where they go for a couple off weeks and check out the beaches or maybe riding through Vietnam at such a crazy pace that they never get off the beaten track. No we want more than that.
Our Vietnam adventures start with learning the way of the locals, taking just enough time to figure out how things work, discover what the Must see places in Vietnam are and more importantly where Vietnam's hidden gems are...
To do this, we moved to Danang Vietnam. The plan was to spend 3 months living in Da Nang, meeting and learning from locals about the culture, the amazing food, their way of living and what places they would recommend to travel in Vietnam.
And because Danang is in the middle of the country, we hoped we might meet other tourists or expats who were having their own Vietnam travel adventure or were at the halfway point of motorcycle riding through Vietnam and hear from them, what places they thought we must visit in Vietnam. Also, as new travel vloggers, having a base there meant we could try things like doing Da Nang Vietnam travel vlog or creating a Danang Vietnam travel guide, before also taking on the stresses of fulltime travel.
Then in month 4, that's when the real Vietnam adventure begins. With our new list of must see places, we will head to Saigon and buy a couple of motorbikes. to start our Vietnam road trip!
Motorcycle riding through Vietnam seems like one of the most hectic, crazy and chaotic things anyone could do, but we can't wait!! And we wont be following a simple South to North / Saigon to Hanoi route, we plan on doing more like a figure 8, so that our travel in Vietnam will cover both the inland and coastal areas of this amazing country.
So can we still say we are backpacking Vietnam? Or should we be telling people our travel in Vietnam is a motorcycle trip through Vietnam? We're not sure, but what we do know is, our Vietnam road trip is going to cover over 6000km's from Saigon right up to the famous waterfalls of Ban Gioc near Cao Bang, round the northern point of the Ha Giang loop and everything else we can access in between.
So we hope you'll join us, the New Zealand vlogging couple, on our Vietnam adventure by clicking subscribe to join the Tribe and experience our travel in Vietnam..

Museum of Danang 2017 Travel to Vietnam
The #Danang #Museum is like our local history museums. It was reopened and updated in a new place in April 2011, and in the future it can become one of the most interesting places in the city, while it is little known among tourists now. Today, you can see a lot of interesting things here, but it is inferior in popularity than the museum of Cham sculpture, although it is frank to admit that it is much more interesting than the latter.
The museum is located in a modern three-story building, attached to the remnants of the fortress, built in the early 19th century. The museum has more than 2500 exhibits in the form of photographs and antiques. Some exhibitions show whole scenes from the life of the people of central Vietnam. The historical range of the museum - from the ancient times to the present. Undoubtedly, this is a recommended place to visit, it will be interesting to both children and adults.
Entrance fee: admission is free
Working hours: daily except Monday from 8:00 to 11:30 and from 14:00 to 16:30
How to get there: The museum is located in the central part of Danang at 24 Tran Phu Street
Thank you very much for views, comments and likes!

Retirement Dreams visits the Museum of Cham Sculpture in Da Nang, Vietnam.
Vietnam has a lot to offer the foreign tourist. From jungles to mountains down to the beaches. Da Nang was known to US Soldiers as China Beach and boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. But we spent this day inside and out of the rain. Enjoying the historic sculptures of the Champa Kingdom. The Cham dynasty was a blend of ancient Indian culture with Vietnamese culture and produced some amazing sculptures on display at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.
This museum houses artifacts from the 6th through the 15th centuries. It is amazing the preservation of sandstone pieces that are over 1,000 years old! The meticulous work displayed is a can't miss for any visitor to Da Nang, Vietnam and with an entry fee of 60,000 Dong (USD $2.60) there is no excuse for skipping this museum.

Stepping away from a traditional lifestyle of home to work, and repeat, was one of the best decisions we could've made. It has allowed us to grow into our new marriage, see more of the world, and learn about other cultures. We've traveled to five countries in Asia and counting. Our channel is a mix of lifestyle, travel, and general entertainment.

The Top 5 things to do in Da Nang City Center, Vietnam
Wondering what to do in Da Nang? There are a lot of attractions but here's my top 5 on things to do in the city center. These activities can easily be combined in one day!
We start with some history and culture in the Museum of Cham sculptures in the city center.
Not far from the museum u will find Han Market, one of the main local markets in Da Nang.
Of course Da Nang is also famous for it's local food. Grab some street food or try some of the many local specialties (Pho, Mi Quang, Banh Xeo etc.) to fill your stomach.
In the evening Han Riverside is the place to be. It's the center of Da Nang by night. To finish the day, why not go to the SkyBar 36 and enjoy a cold drink with an amazing view surrounding you!

Tips for vietnam (Danang & Hoi An)
1. for currency exchange, use $100 to exchange because they have a bigger value.
2. any watts work with Vietnam; if you live in the US, or Korea, both plugs will work.
3. when taking a taxi, do not take random ones that look like Uber. Take taxis with numbers on it
4. if you are staying in a hotel or a resort, and you want to grab a taxi, please tell the front desk so they can arrange the ride for you. otherwise, weird taxi drivers will take advantage of you.
5. When you arrive at vietnam (DAD airport), buy a sim card. You will get unlimited data for only $7! (1 week)
6. people here are quite nice. when buying products are the market, negotiate with them!
7. Traffic system is bad in Vietnam. Please watch out for motorcycles and cars! they do not have traffic lights so you will hear lots of beeping.
8. because there are many motorcyclists, it’s easy to get your bags snatched so always watch out!
9. Do not wear sneakers. although sneakers can be comfortable, it is hot in vietnam and birkenstocks will be the best shoes to wear around.
10. WATER IS NOT FREE. At the restaurant, if you ask for water, they will charge you!!
11. majority places will only take CASH.

Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture
The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, in Vietnam, features some wonderful pieces from the Champa Kingdom of the region who ruled parts of mainland Southeast Asia in the 2nd to 18th centuries AD. It is well worth a visit.
Cham Museum in DaNang
I took a stroll through the Cham museum in DaNang with my camera. I show you how to find the museum, also. The Cham people roamed central and southern Vietnam from the 6th to the 14th centuries. The museum is full of sandstone sculpture from the people and from this age. It's definitely worth a visit.
