Da Nang was known to US Soldiers as China Beach and boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. But we spent this day inside and out of the rain. Enjoying the historic sculptures of the Champa Kingdom. The Cham dynasty was a blend of ancient Indian culture with Vietnamese culture and produced some amazing sculptures on display at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.
This museum houses artifacts from the 6th through the 15th centuries. It is amazing the preservation of sandstone pieces that are over 1,000 years old! The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, in Vietnam, features some wonderful pieces from the Champa Kingdom of the region who ruled parts of mainland Southeast Asia in the 2nd to 18th centuries AD. It is well worth a visit.
Museum of Danang 2017 Travel to Vietnam
The #Danang #Museum is like our local history museums. It was reopened and updated in a new place in April 2011, and in the future it can become one of the most interesting places in the city, while it is little known among tourists now. Today, you can see a lot of interesting things here, but it is inferior in popularity than the museum of Cham sculpture, although it is frank to admit that it is much more interesting than the latter.
The museum is located in a modern three-story building, attached to the remnants of the fortress, built in the early 19th century. The museum has more than 2500 exhibits in the form of photographs and antiques. Some exhibitions show whole scenes from the life of the people of central Vietnam. The historical range of the museum - from the ancient times to the present. Undoubtedly, this is a recommended place to visit, it will be interesting to both children and adults.
Entrance fee: admission is free
Working hours: daily except Monday from 8:00 to 11:30 and from 14:00 to 16:30
How to get there: The museum is located in the central part of Danang at 24 Tran Phu Street

The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture_TVC
The Museum of Cham Sculpture was established in 1915 under the auspices of the École Française d'Extrême-Orient. The building is a unique combination of Cham decorative motifs and early twentieth century French architecture. It was officially opened to the public in 1919. Though additions were added twice, in 1936 and 2002, the museum has preserved the original graceful architectural style with its open and airy galleries.
With more than four hundred objects currently on display in the galleries, the museum provides visitors with the opportunity to view the world's greatest collection of artifacts from the Kingdom of Champa. The objects represent most of the recognized stylistic periods of Cham art, and are in a variety of media, including sandstone, bronze, and terracotta. They are arranged in galleries and collections which are named after their location of discovery and excavation such as Tra Kieu, My Son, Dong Duong, Thap Mam, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, and Da Nang. Grounded in various themes from symbols of fecundity to holy Gods and mythical animals, the sculptures on display express the cultural values of the Cham people through their fascinatingly unique combination and interpretation of the religious and artistic influences of Hinduism and Buddhism.
Located idyllically on the banks of the Han River and in the heart of Da Nang, the Museum of Cham Sculpture is an exciting and rewarding destination for numerous domestic and foreign tourists to enjoy the art and culture of the Kingdom of Champa. When visiting the Museum, visitors have the opportunity to admire some of the greatest historical treasures of Vietnam, and discover the wonder and beauty of the lost civilization of the Kingdom of Champa reflected through hundreds of sandstone sculpture.

Cham Museum in DaNang
I took a stroll through the Cham museum in DaNang with my camera. I show you how to find the museum, also. The Cham people roamed central and southern Vietnam from the 6th to the 14th centuries. The museum is full of sandstone sculpture from the people and from this age. It's definitely worth a visit.

Visit to the Cham Sculpture Museum at Danang and Surroundings Vietnam
Via the coast we travelled with a few stops to Danang
There we brought a visit at the Museum of Cham Sculpture. This museum is located in Hai Chau District, Da Nang, central Vietnam, near the Han River.
Prior to the establishment of the museum, the site was known as the garden of sculptures and many Cham sculptures that had been collected in Da Nang, Quang Nam and elsewhere had been brought there over the preceding twenty years. The museum houses the world's largest collection of Cham sculpture.
Champa was an Indic civilization that flourished along the coasts of what is now central and southern Vietnam for roughly a one thousand year period between 500 AD and 1500 AD. The original Chams were probably colonists from the Indonesian islands, who adopted as their principal vocations those of trade, shipping, and piracy. Their cities were ports of call on important trade routes linking India, China and the Indonesian islands. The history of Champa was one of intermittent conflict and cooperation with the people of Java, the Khmer of Angkor in Cambodia and the Dai Viet of what is now northern Vietnam. It was to the Dai Viet that Champa finally lost its independence.
The artistic legacy of Champa consists primarily of sandstone sculptures - both sculpture in the round and relief sculpture - and brick buildings. Some metal statues and decorative items have also survived. Much of the remaining art expresses religious themes, and though some pieces would have been purely decorative, others would have served important functions in the religious life of the Chams, which synthesized elements of Hinduism (especially Saivism), Buddhism and indigenous cults.
You see it in the presentation.
You also see some pictures along the river and near to the airport.
