SEE MY TRAVEL PAGE :
Dad's Army was filmed in the Norfolk town of Thetford which is commemorated by the statue of Captain Mainwaring as well as many other sites such as J. Jones the butchers in the High Street. Other than that it is also a very pleasant provincial town.

Dad's Army location: Nether Row, Thetford, UK
These flint cottages appeared in four episodes of Dad's Army: The Armoured Might of Lance-Corporal Jones (1969), Man Hunt (1969), The Big Parade (1970) and Time On My Hands (1972).
They are in Nether Row in Thetford, Norfolk, United Kingdom.
Dad's Army location: Guildhall, Thetford, UK.
The Guildhall in Thetford, Norfolk, UK doubled as the town hall for Walmington-on-Sea in the TV comedy series Dad's Army in two episodes: Time On My Hands (1972) and The Captain's Car (1974). In the latter you see the titular car drive past the building with the arches on the right and pull up outside the entrance. The windows have a slightly different pattern in the TV episodes and there was nothing in the arches (which were also a different colour) but other than that the location is pretty much the same.

Visiting Historical Thetford
Just south of Thetford Forest you will find the small but charming Norfolk market town of Thetford. An important Celtic tribe lived around there during the Iron Age and early Roman period, and in fact in the 1970s a 4th Century treasure hoard was discovered which is now on display in the British Museum. In fact in Saxon and Medieval history, Thetford has also had some exciting roles too.
With a population of around 22,000 and just 86 miles from London lying on the London Road, and only 28 miles from Norwich, it is also a handily situated town. Find out about some of the commercial properties available in Thetford over at
