Arboretum in Daegu, South Korea
The arboretum is so relaxing and calm that this video was tough as balls to edit! Hope you enjoy it, it's so vastly different to my other videos, so if you hate it, watch the bloopers:
Address:
대구광역시 달서구 화암로 343(舊 대곡동 284)
Please note Google Maps does not work in Korea, so please copy this address onto Kakao maps, Naver Maps or Daum Maps
Directions:
1) From Banwoldang Station get on Line 1 (Red) towards Seolhwa
2) Alight at Daegok Station
-NOTE- Most other directions will tell you to take a bus, don't bother, the bus will only take you one stop, so its worthless to wait for, instead:
3) Exit from Exit 4 and walk straight until you hit a crossroads
4) Go right (don't cross the road) and follow the curve of the road
5) Head right on the first main road and walk forwards
6) The arboretum will be on your right.
Daegu Arboretum Garden in South Korea (Part 1)
This video is dedicated to our friends Beth and Philip at Philippine Expat Country Living and Philippine Expat Garden and Farm. They are gardeners extradonaire. Have a look at their channels.
THINK GREEN! This government-run garden is huge and there is no admission cost. If you're in Daegu definitely head over for a look. You wouldn't know it but this place was once a landfill. Its transformation is amazing.
Part I takes us from the entrance to the cactus garden. This video was taken at the end of May. We've also been in the fall and the colors changing are very impressive.
If you enjoyed the video please be sure to give it a THUMBS UP. Your COMMENT would be very welcome and we would LOVE to have you as a SUBSRIBER. Prepare yourselves as our channel starts to evolve which brings us to the first scene of the video. Take care and thanks for watching!

A Walk in the Park (Daegu Arboretum / 대구수목원)
A botanical garden I visited in Daegu one day. It was once a land fill that the city transformed into a garden. It is home to more than 1,000 species of plants. The weather was perfect and the flowers were beautiful. Enjoy.

This is the last part of our trip to the Arboritum in Daegu, South Korea. This part includes a look at a traditional Korean garden and a large tree which we nicknamed, The Tree of Life. There is also an interesting meditation area featuring a stone turtle. The turtle sybolizes long life and good fortune in many Asian cultures including Korea.
If you haven't already done so, then please consider subscribing to our channel. We would really appreciate it. Regardless, thanks for watching and may the spirit of the turtle be with you.

This video was just really fun to make, I don't think I have ever had so many cut aways and images in a video before and it was quite enjoyable to see my old vlogs (even though they are terrible) so that I could add them into the video.
Obviously there are so many more places that I really enjoy in Korea, and even so many outside of Seoul and Daegu, but I wanted to make an honest list of the places that I really enjoyed visiting time and time again or had very strong positive memories of.
This video really is only meant to be a fun entertaining list of my favorite places and so if you feel inspired to go to any please let me know - or share your favourite laces in the comments, I'm always ready for a good suggestion!
Happy watching!

A famous point of attraction in Daegu where you can enjoy multiple of things.
Daegu Arboretum, an Eco Park in Downtown_도심속 생태공간, 대구수목원
The Daegu Arboretum, located in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, covers 247,596 m² with 300,000 herbs of 1300 species and 150,000 trees of 450 species.
What makes this arboretum so special is that the site it stands on now was originally a waste disposal site just a few years ago with a capacity of more than 4.1 million tons.
Kang Sin-gu (An official of the arboretum): The Daegu Arboretum is a result of the dramatic transformation from a landfill into an eco-friendly park. We believe it is a prime example of making positive use from such a place. At the arboretum, you can experience nearly 2,000 species of plants living in the Daegu area. These days, it's becoming a popular destination for family travel as well. You will get an opportunity to learn about the environment while finding many plants in the arboretum.
The Forest Exhibition Hall in the arboretum provides diverse information about plants and culture and the lives of plants. It is not just a plant museum, but it plays an important role in educational purposes.
The plants in the arboretum are arranged in 23 sections according to their species and usages, in order to improve visitors' understanding of those plants.
Yi Jae-hyeong (Visitor): I'm glad to find such a huge park near an apartment complex. It's so refreshing. Since it is also filled with various flowers and herbs, there is a lot to see as well.
At this arboretum, visitors can enjoy a wide range of plants from common fruit trees, wild flowers and medicinal herbs to some rare species including wetland plants and succulent plants.
Go Ji-hun: Actually, people with disabilities have to face somewhat difficult situations in the city. But in the arboretum, I feel relaxed while enjoying those flowers and trees and fresh air. That's why I like to come here often.
The landfill had been abandoned for more than 10 years before it was transformed into a resting area and an eco-learning center. Now, it has become a proud part of the City of Daegu, where the environment, people and culture work together in harmony.

Daegu Arboretum with friends
A few days ago, I went to Daegu Arboretum with friends.
Daegu is one of the most historic and picturesque cities in South Korea. With 2.5 million residents (same population as Toronto, but not as spread out), it is South Korea's third largest city.
5 Best Cities in Korea for EPIK (Not Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Jeju or Incheon)

Daejeon:
And I hope you really enjoyed learning about all these cities that aren't the ones you've probably heard of (Jeju, Seoul, Busan, Daegu or Incheon) because Korea is stuffed with amazing cities and you can really target the ones that will suit you best if you do some reearch, so why not?
You can get a great city for your needs and be one of very few people that chooses it! That's got to up your chances, right?
Plus, as you can see literally all of them have so much to do and see, making them the literal best cities in Korea for teaching English, wether with EPIK, or with a hagwon!

Daegu Arboretum Garden Part 2 - Tropical Fruits Greenhouse
This video features a fast walk-through of the Tropical Fruits Greenhouse. Many of the plants brought back memories and longings for the Philippines and the Arizona Desert. The video also some large petrified wood on dispay. (Interestingly, Koreans like to call it silicified.)

[K-BIZ] Asia's Largest Arboretum / YTN KOREAN
South Korea has opened a huge-scale arboretum where visitors are allowed to encounter endangered Siberian tigers.
This botanic garden, called Baekdudaegan Arboretum and claimed to be Asia's largest, will play a key role to preserve threatened plants and animals.
The arboretum is located on a mountain range in the country's southeastern county of Bonghwa.
Built on a land site of over 5,000 hectares, the arboretum is also said to be the second largest of its kind in the world.
Two endangered Siberian tigers were unveiled to the public upon the opening of the arboretum. The last Siberian tiger in Korea was hunted in 1921, in the country's southeastern city Gyeongju.
Visitors to the Tiger Forest, covering an area of 4.8 hectares and surrounded by electric fences, will be able to take a glimpse at two tigers. They are 13-year-old female Hancheong and 7-year-old male Uri released into the wild.
Featuring 27 different garden exhibitions such as a children's garden, a rock garden, and a mirror garden, it is also home to 3.85 million plants of over 2,000 different botanic species.
[Kim Yong-Ha, head of Baekdudaegan National Arboretum]
“The arboretum focuses on collecting and preserving alpine plants. In addition, it will play a key role in securing and preserving the seeds of endangered wild plants worldwide permanently.
In addition, The arboretum houses other facilities such as Sea Vault, the world's sole repository of wild seed samples, as well as the Forest Environment Institute among others.
Now, here comes Baekdudaegan Arboretum, a completely new concept of botanic complex offering space for exhibitions, studies and healings altogether.
