Todaiji Temple Daibutsuden (GIANT BUDDHA) in Nara Park, Japan - Walking Tour & Travel Guide ????【4K】
Todai-ji (東大寺 Eastern Great Temple) was built in the Nara period (710 - 794 AD) at the behest of Emperor Shomu. The temple was officially positioned as one of many state-established provincial temples. However, since the chief object of worship of the temple is Vairocana Buddha (Buddha that shines throughout the world like the sun), a magnificent temple was built to reflect this importance.
The Great Buddha Hall (大仏殿 Daibutsuden) houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese as Daibutsu (大仏). The statue was consecrated in 752 AD but damaged and repaired several times in the following centuries. It was burned during the war in 1180 and 1567, and the current building is actually the third generation construction, which was built in the Edo period.

VISIT Todaiji Temple in Nara Japan
Nara's star attraction is the famous Daibutsu (Great Buddha), centrepiece of this grand temple on the Unesco World Heritage List, with origins going back to AD 728. The Daibutsu statue itself is one of the largest bronze figures in the world and was originally cast in 746. The present statue, recast in the Edo period, stands just over 16m high and consists of 437 tonnes of bronze and 130kg of gold.
The Daibutsu is housed in Tōdai-ji's Daibutsu-den (大仏殿, Great Buddha Hall), which itself is the largest wooden building in the world. Incredibly, the present structure, rebuilt in 1709, is a mere two-thirds of the size of the original. Except for the Daibutsu-den, most of Tōdai-ji's grounds can be visited free of charge.

Todaiji Temple (東大寺), Nara City
Todaiji Temple, also known as the Daibutsu (Great Buddha) of Nara Temple, located in the Nara Park precincts in Nara City.
Todaiji temple (東大寺) is one of the oldest temples in Nara and in Japan. Many of the original buildings have been burned down and rebuilt again many time over the centuries. The current main worship hall, known as Daibutsuden, is the largest wooden structure in the world. If you watch the video of the Daibutsuden, you will know why. Enjoy!!!
Kids crawling through buddha's nostril at Daibutsuden in Nara, Japan
At the Todai-ji Temple in Nara, Japan, there's a pillar with a hole on the bottom. Apparently, if you crawl through the hole — which is the same size as one of the Daibutsu's (big buddha housed there) nostrils — you'll reach enlightenment in the next life. And since it's so small, really only children can crawl through it. Their parents egg them on, of course!

HALAL Japanese Street Food Tour in NARA JAPAN | Day 8: Nara Deer Park, Todaiji Temple & Mochi!
Asslamu Alikom - Greetings of Peace everyone! We hope you enjoy our japan travel vlog about our day trip to visit Nara and the deer.
Top things to do in Nara Japan:
1) Nara Deer Park
2) Todaiji Temple
3) Visit the Pagoda's
4) Naramachi Street Nara Town
5) Eat Mochi!
We started our japan travel vlog by heading to Osaka station where we took the Yamatoji Rapid Service, which is a JR train and allows you to use the JR Pass if you have one. The train ride from Osaka to Nara took about 50 Minutes and once we arrived we went straight to see Naramachi district to try the unique japanese street food and mochi!
The train ride will cost about $8 USD each way without a JR pass and you will need to take a bus from Nara station to get to Nara Deer Park for $ 2 USD.
At Naramachi, we sampled different types of Mochi and watched the Mochi preparation where we got to see how they make it! We also found unique stalls like Turkish ice cream! This is a great place to find souvenirs and buy gifts, also the prices are affordable too! Everything is deer themed or cherry blossom themed which is really fun.
After we headed to the amazing temples in Nara starting with Kofuku-ji Temple and Pagoda. The Pagoda is 5 stories high and was a real delight to see, highly recommend visiting this shrine.
After the pagoda we walked around and fed the deer at Nara Park by buying the Deer cookies for about $1.50 per pack. Do not feed the deer any other food except the deer cookies!
This park is massive so be prepared to do a lot of walking and selfies with the deer!
Make sure you bow, the deer are very polite and will bow back to try the cookies!
The last temple we visited was Todai-ji Temple, Home of the famous Daibutsu (Great Buddha), Todai-ji Temple is a must-see for all visitors to Japan. Admission is $5 USD and it is worth it! This is a must see if you are visiting Japan for the first time.
After Nara we took the rapid JR train back to Osaka and went straight to Dotonbori to try the street food. I really wanted to try the Takoyaki (octopus balls) in Osaka because I heard they are the best!
The Takoyaki stall was super busy but worth the wait.
Thank you for watching and please Subscribe, Like and Share!

奈良・東大寺大仏殿 Part1 of Todai-ji Daibutsuden in Nara Japan

This video is Part1. Todai-ji (Great Eastern Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in the city of Nara, Japan. Deer (Shika), regarded as messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion, roam the grounds freely. Todaiji was constructed in 752 A.D. as the head temple of all provincial Buddhist temples of Japan.

Todaiji Temple, Nara ☆ 東大寺 ☆ Japan As It Truly Is
If you only had time to visit just one temple in all of Japan, then THIS SHOULD BE THE PLACE. Todaiji is just mind blowing.
Seriously, missing this place would be like going to India and skipping the Taj Mahal.
Todaiji was completed in 752 A.D. when Nara was the capital of Japan (710-794 A.D.) to house the 550 ton Great Buddha, which used up nearly all the country's available bronze. The total cost of constructing the statue nearly bankrupted the country. The Todaiji you see here is actually the 2nd reconstruction and completed in 1709 - the original was actually about a third BIGGER than what this mammoth building is. The statue as well as had to have been rebuilt, the head is the 2nd reconstruction and made in the Edo Period (1615–1867) and the hands were reconstructed in the Momoyama Period (1568–1615).
Approaching Todaiji, you pass through the Nandaimon or South Gate, which was finished at the end of the 12th Century, copying the Chinese Song Dynasty style. There are two 28 foot Nio guards, the Agyo and Ungyo. Inside the Daibutsuden is the Great Buddha, other statues, a scale model of the original complex over 1200 years ago, one of the original hands, and a hole in one pillar, said to be the same size as one of the statue's nostrils. If you can squeeze your butt through it, it is said you will attain enlightenment in your next life.
Some people never make it to Nara in spite of traveling in the area - don't be one of them!

Todaiji Temple in Nara, Japan
Novembre 2011 - A popular attraction of Todaiji Temple is a pillar inside the temple which has a hole in its base the same size as the Daibutsu's nostril. It is said that those who can squeeze through this opening will be granted enlightenment in their next reincarnation.
In this case, the last kid is having a difficult time in getting through... :-)
