Melanie M.'s Review on The Dyrt:
▶︎ Beautiful Pines
I went there for 3 nights. It is a beautiful little park. It has an 80 acre lake that is really nice except there is too many lilly pads. I took my tiny camper, fishing poles and kayaks. I wish there where more campsites near the water. It is a quite little park. The campsites are nice. The restrooms are very nice. This park is very clean. The park had different activities during the day on Saturday. They had live music and a campfire that I really enjoyed. Then after that they had a dance with a free jukebox and disco lights. It was fun watching the people dance. They have a really nice fishing dock and a store to buy supplies, sueveniers and ice. They rent Kayaks, paddle boats and boards by the hour. The trails go completely around the lake and are easy and very beautiful . They have free WiFi that actually work. The sunset and night sky is amazing. The racoons are very brave and will rob you of anything they can. Do not leave ice chest out or vehicle windows down. The park is only a couple miles from town. I would say this is one of Texas hidden gems. The people that work there are very nice. You don't have to have a fishing license to fish there and that I like because I didn't have to buy an out of state fishing license. There are lots of places to eat out if you don't want to cook. There is a place called Arnold's about 7 miles from park that has really reasonable food. $4 breakfast Eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, and biscuit & gravy. The also have a giant hamburger, bigger than a dinner plate that can feed 4 adults for only $15. Also 2 miles from the park is a big grocery store that is very reasonable, convenience stores, ice machines, and drive in restaurants. There is a $4 per person per day park entry fee. If you are a 100% disabled veteran that fee is waived for you and 1 other person. The campsites with electric are $20 & $25. Unlike many other states Texas does not give discounts for camping if your disabled or hold an America the beauti...

Daingerfield-Lone Star Superintendent Gives Wrong Information Before Vote
In the March 23, 2015 school board meeting of the Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District, board member Jerry Stoermer explicitly asks if it will save money to pay the debt early for the artificial turf and new track. Superintendent Sandra Quarles answers that it will. In the August 17, 2015 meeting, when the board is going over next year's budget, Jerry Stoermer asks the same question again and Mrs. Quarles states that no it will not save any money to pay the debt off early.
Meridian State Park, Tx
A well enjoyable state park that anyone can attempt with trails all along the lake and some with views that peak threw the trees. There is even a handicap trail (.05 miles). They have 6 screened shelters that rest on the lake view and looks to be a great spot for fishing since the fish where jumping out of the lake ever 5 mins. With CampfireGirl and Lostgirl

Atlanta State Park
Atlanta State Park is in the piney woods of East Texas. It's one of several East Texas state parks. This was the Two Tired Teachers second visit to the park. The first had been an overnight stop on the way home from a longer trip.
Atlanta State Park Texas is a gorgeous park with several camping loops. One has full hook ups, and two have water and electric hook ups. The full hook up sites are pull through as is one of the water and electric loops. The other is back in sites.
While the full hook up area has smaller campsites, all are well shaded with a picnic table and fire ring.
Hiking and biking are two of the land activities. Swimming and fishing are water activities. Due to recent rains and cool temperatures in August, the Two Tired Teachers didn't get to swim at the park.
Atlanta State Park sits on Wright Patman Lake. As long as you are on the shore of Atlanta State Park, you don't need a fishing license. If you are in a boat fishing, you do need a license.
The Two Tired Teachers did take the opportunity to fish while at the park. They managed to catch two catfish and had a ton of fun. Fishing in Atlanta State Park was a great way to spend some of our time.
Atlanta is fairly close to Texarkana, Texas. Texarkana is in both Texas and Arkansas. At the end of State Line, a street that runs through Texarkana is the historic courthouse. Half is in Texas and half is in Arkansas. The building also houses post offices for both states.
Just outside Texarkana in Nash, Texas the Two Tired Teachers visited the Blue Bayou, a small restaurant that specializes in catfish. The fish was good and was served with hushpuppies, pinto beans, and cole slaw.
Atlanta is a quaint Texas town with an older district filled with locally owned businesses. On the highway that runs through the town is a Wal-Mart. Atlanta still has the feel of a small Texas town.
