Dalkey, Ireland, in the 1980s
Here is some digitally remastered footage from the 1980s showing street party scenes in the residential road of St. Begnets Villas, Dalkey, County Dublin, Ireland.
The original video was shot using 1980s video equipment so a certain amount of re-colouring was necessary to balance the colour and make it look more natural.
Enjoy looking back!
Dalkey 1957
Some footage of Dalkey, County Dublin, Ireland, taken in 1957. It starts in black and white and then moves to colour. I think the later parts are from the early sixties actually. I got a copy of this on VHS some years ago. I converted it to DVD and have now converted it for YouTube. All these conversions have taken their toll on picture quality. If anyone knows where the original film is, let me know. It was probably shot on 8mm. I would like to do a direct conversion to preserve the original quality and I'd like to know something about the cameraman/narrator and give him a credit.

Dalkey, Dublin - Day Trip from Dublin, Ireland 2020 - Petite Paradise Studio Travel Guide in 4K
For my last day in Dublin which is also New Year day 2020, I took a day trip to Dalkey, a quaint harbor town about an hour train away from Dublin.
Once you are in Dalkey, don't forget to visit their many mini castles along Castle Street, the Church of Assumption, St. Patrick's Church and Bullock Harbor.
The town was sooooooo cute that it was hard for me to say goodbye. The pretty little houses and majestic mansions along the coastline were the highlight of the trip.
FYI: take DART train, instead of the bus, will surely make the trip better because the train runs along the coastline which provide a more interesting view of the ocean along the ride.

The song is called Juck by Dublin artist Nico Fitz
It is based on a Scottish seafaring song called Biodh An Deoch Seo 'N Làimh Mo Rùin
The lyrics, in English, read:
Whether he or the others were drinking
There would still be plenty on the table
The drink would be in my love's hand
Here's a health to the chief
The drink would be in my love's hand
A boat was seen on the waves
And the red hand at the helm
I saw it passing through the straits
With a clump of heather on the sail-yard
You who saw her out at sea
Bless the fair ship and her crew
The drink would be in my love's hand
Here's a health to the chief
The drink would be in my love's hand
Bless her high masts and her equipment
Her moorings and her sails
Though I am here in Coll
I long to go to Rhum
And from there to Uist
Were I to get my wish
The drink would be in my love's hand
Here's a health to the chief
The drink would be in my love's hand
