Video of Confederate Flag Parade in Dalton Goe
The city of Dalton is responding to its residents after a Facebook video of a Confederate Flag Parade goes viral.
Mario Blanding was at a gas station in Dalton and recorded video on his phone of a long line of trucks many of those trucks were flying the Confederate Flag.
Blanding posted that video on his Facebook page on Sunday.
In the video he questions why the Dalton police are controlling traffic for the event.
That parade then takes a surprising turn which Blanding catches on camera.
This afternoon Dalton Mayor Dennis Mock explained why police where there: They were out there for public safety and that's what they provided. They made sure that the participates didn't go down streets that they said they were not going to go down and went directly from point A to point B. And everything was peaceful. And that's what we wanted them to do.
Dalton officials say they regret the negative publicity and perception - and that their ultimate goal is keeping citizens safe.
