Dalton Gang Hideout, Meade, KS in 4K
Be part of the Gang and travel with the Dalton Brothers down a 95-foot-long tunnel from the house to the barn built into the hillside below. Legend has it the tunnel was used by Bill Doolin, and the rest of gang to come and go undetected by the law.
The barn serves as an entrance to the attraction and houses a gift shop on the ground floor and museum artifacts in the loft.

UP Action in Meade, Kansas
I was in Meade again on this hot summer day when the temps had reached 103'. At 6pm it was still 98'. My first catch was A-GBPX as he came through town headed west. For whatever reason the Nathan horns on this unit are LOUD! They are cool however and you only hear them on the SD70ACes. I heard the dispatcher tell this train to take the siding at Missler, KS (5 miles west) for two eastbounds.
After waiting for over 20 minutes for Z-CIG1, he finally arrived. I think he saw me setup east of the bridge, but I got no horn. Oh well, sometimes that happens.
The wind was really howling and I wondered if the video would be any good or if the audio would be one big roar. The external mic and windscreen are really worth the effort.
Thanks for watching!
UP Pratt Sub - Meade, Ks
On Saturday 6-12-2010, I went to one of my favorite small towns - Meade, Kansas.
Meade is a neat, clean little town with friendly farm people. It's also located on the Crooked Creek and the tracks lose elevation when they cross the creek. There are also curves on both sides of town, but the east side with the Cottonwood trees is perfect for filming.
Meade is also home to the Dalton Gang Hideout Museum and Meade Lake. Next time you're on highway 54 out in western Kansas, stop in and look around!
Coffeyville Kansas Bank Robbery C.M. Condon & Company's Bank The Doolin Dalton Gang
tour of the bank of condon made famous by the Eagles song
The Dalton Gang was a group of outlaws in the American Old West during 1890–1892. It was also known as The Dalton Brothers because three of its members were brothers. The gang specialized in bank and train robberies. During an attempted bank robbery in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1892, two of the brothers and two other gang members were killed; Emmett survived and was captured, tried, and convicted. He was paroled after serving 14 years in prison.
The oldest brother Frank had been a Deputy U.S. Marshal, but was killed in 1888. In 1890, Gratton Grat, Bob, and Emmett turned to crime after not being paid as lawmen. Their middle brother William M. Bill Dalton also had a career as an outlaw, but he rode with the Wild Bunch. The gangs were related through their mother to the Younger brothers, who rode with Jesse James. The Daltons were active later and independently of the James-Younger Gang.
The Dalton Gang's criminal enterprise was ended on October 5, 1892 when they attempted to rob two banks at once in Coffeyville, Kansas. Four of the gang were killed in the ensuing gun fight. Emmett Dalton survived the raid but received 23 gunshot wounds. He was given a life sentence in the penitentiary in Lansing, Kansas and pardoned after fourteen years. He moved to California, where he dabbled in acting before getting involved in real estate, dying at the age of sixty-six. He was married to Julia Johnson Dalton, who survived him. In 1918, he portrayed himself in the movie version of his book Beyond the Law.[3]
In 1931, he published When the Daltons Rode, which was later made into a 1940 movie starring Randolph Scott. Emmett Dalton was portrayed by Frank Albertson.
Grat and Bob Dalton, Dick Broadwell and Bill Power were all killed. Emmett Dalton received 23 gunshot wounds and survived (he was shot through the right arm, below the shoulder, through the left – right, in some accounts – hip and groin, and received 18-23 buckshot in his back).[6] He was given a life sentence in the Kansas State Penitentiary in Lansing, Kansas, of which he served 14 years before being pardoned. He moved to California and became a real estate agent, author and actor, and died in 1937 at age 66. Speculation arose that a sixth man had been holding the gang's horses in an alleyway and had escaped; he was believed to be Bill Doolin. That has never been confirmed. Bill Doolin, Bitter Creek Newcomb, and Charlie Pierce, none of whom were at Coffeyville, were the only members left of the Dalton Gang.
Years after the robberies and his release from prison, Emmett Dalton said that Deputy US Marshal Heck Thomas was a key factor in his gang's decision to commit the robberies. He said Thomas kept relentless pressure on them. They hoped to make a big score from the banks and leave the territory for a while, to escape Thomas' heat.

Meade Kansas Aerial Shots Around Town
Meade Kansas is a small community in Western Kansas. Meade has a rich history and is a great little town full of awesome people.
Meade County was organized on November 4, 1885, by Daniel Dillon; John Joslin; A. D. McDaniel; L. S. Sears; H. L. Mullen; and E. M. Mears. Named for Civil War General George G. Meade, the county contains the cities of Fowler, Meade and Plains.
The Dalton Gang brothers' sister, Eva, lived in Meade. It was said, and often known, that the brothers often visited her. An escape tunnel was constructed to allow them to get away if pursued. The house is now a Western Museum, renovated by the Works Progress Administration.
The Lone Tree Massacre in which a survey party, sent by the U. S. Government to survey land southwest of Dodge City, was attacked and killed by Cheyenne Indians on August 24, 1874. Continued problems with Cheyenne in the area kept settlement at a standstill until after 1878. In the late 1870s and early 1880s, the discovery and use of artesian wells in the northern part of the county contributed significantly to settlement and growth.
The First Congregational Church of Crooked Creek was the first organized (1887) church in the county. A county fair was held in Meade, but the exact dates are unknown. The first school was held in a store building in Meade in 1885.

The meteorite museum in Greensburg Kansas before it was destroyed. The meteors obviously came from White Sands Missile base, a hundred miles south of Roswell.
Was Greensburg destroyed because of emails I sent to meteor experts? Or emails I sent to Wright Patterson about the 8-17-70 Green Flash that I witnessed as a boy in Ohio?
