Dalwhinnie is one of the coldest villages in the United Kingdom, having an average annual temperature of 6 degrees Centigrade, making it suitable for winter walking and mountaineering. It is north of Drumochter, just off the A9 road from Perth, Perthshire to Inverness and has been bypassed since 1975 by the main A9 road. It is about 2 to 2½ hours drive from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, 25 miles from Aviemore, 13 from Newtonmore and 17 from Kingussie. Dalwhinnie railway station lies on the Highland Main Line from Perth to Inverness. The local distillery, the highest elevation working distillery in Scotland. Award winning Dalwhinnie Distillery is a VisitScotland five star attraction and the home to a famous Highland Single Malt Whisky renowned for its gentle flavours accentuated with notes of heather honey, citrus, vanilla and sweet malt. Set in splendid mountain scenery at the heart of the Cairngorms, Dalwhinnie is the highest distillery in Scotland at 1164 feet above sea level. The name Dalwhinnie is derived from the Gaelic language, meaning 'meeting place', referring to the meeting of ancient cattle drovers' routes through the mountains. The whisky and chocolate matching theme is carried forward with the availability of a selection of tasting flights matching the finest single malt whiskies with the superlative artisanal chocolates of Iain Burnett, the Highland Chocolatier.

Fruity, alcoholic note, dried grass, hay, citrus, vanilla, apples, pears, gooseberries, sweetness
The taste:
Oily, spicy impact, citrus, bitterness, pine wood
