Palla Road is a railway station over the Howrah-Bardhaman Chord Line section in the Eastern Railway Division of Indian Railway. It is nearly 15 kilometer from Burdwan and 75 kilometer from Howrah or Calcutta.

Earlier known as the Sorrow of Bengal because of its ravaging floods in the plains of West Bengal, the Damodar and its tributaries have been somewhat tamed with the construction of several dams.

LOCATION : Kalyaneshwari temple (Bengali: কল্যাণেশ্বরী মন্দির) at Kalyaneshwari in Asansol subdivision of Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal is located on the banks of Barakar River, about 5 kilometres downstream from Maithon Dam of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).
