--WHAT TO SEE IN DANJUGAN--
I did a tour that’s arranged. I believe it’s not even allowed to go around the island without a guide, but correct me if I am wrong!
It’s p1950 per head, including lunch and snacks, the boatride to the island and back to the shore. Note you’ll still need to go to the pick up point by tricycle. From Takatuka this was 300 pesos one way (so 600 back and forth). If you make friends and get into the tour together it will be cheaper ;)
Island is very small only 0.5 km wide and 1.5 kilometer long. It’s a sanctuary which means it’s not allowed to do fishing in most area’s around it, and there are a lot of places for birds to nest. With your tour you help preserving the island.
You’ll support the island with your visit (it’s a protected area)
You can fly the drone here though!
Staying overnight on the island is possible too. In basic (very basic) huts on one side or a bit more relaxed and comforting on the other. There is no wifi, and no signal on the more relaxed place, you’ll need to walk a bit for that.
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN DANJUGAN--
There are basically 2 options on the island itself. One more basic (very basic) and one more luxurious. They’re on opposite sides of the island. It depends on your liking really.
The more basic place is more windy in general, and does not have a beach. I liked the more luxurious option a bit better, because it’s more chilled, there’s a beach and it feels more homey! But again, it depends on your liking and budget.
► Just find all information on their website:
As for staying on the main land: I would highly recommend Takatuka Lodge! Love the place! Inspired on Pippi Longstocking’s tale, with a lot of weird rooms all over the place. Different themes like the cave room, superstar, rockadilly, a castle… you name it ;) It’s seriously the best hotel I’ve been in in the Philippines (and I have been to a lot I love ;) – It’s so funky and unique, the owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great, they attract friendly guests, the beach is just there. AMAZING! Seriously. Go here. GO! What are you waiting for? ;)
► Find Takatuka here:
--WHERE TO EAT IN SIPALAY--
Because I stayed on Sugar Beach, there’s not much options to get out for dinner. You can’t just leave and get back after dark I stayed at Takatuka mainly for food, and it’s good! Not cheap but a whole lot of variety, and great healthy stuff.

Experience Danjugan Island - Negros Occidental, Philippines
We saved an island, now we invite you to explore it.*
Danjugan Island welcomes guests who wish to get away from it all and experience a pure, back-to-basics, adventure. Wake up to the sounds of nature, enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, trekking and birdwatching while you marvel at diverse wildlife. If you're lucky, you may even find black-tipped reef sharks swimming in one of our five lagoons, or critically endagered sea turtles hatching in one of our quiet beaches. The fringing coral reefs around the island are thriving thanks to our conservation efforts as one of the largest marine reserves in the network of protected areas in the Southern Negros Marine Key Biodiversity Area (MKBA).
Featured in the video is TYPHOON BEACH CAMP, located on the west side of Danjugan Island facing the Sulu Sea.

DANJUGAN ISLAND TOUR/ PH
This majestic Island is located at Cauayan, Negros Occidental. You, your family and friends can enjoy nature tripping, trekking, snorkeling and swimming. You can take a bus ride from Bacolod City but for us we rented a private vehicle and took a road trip to Cauayan. We rented a boat to take us to the Island. The place is amazing and the tour was completed. Accommodation on the actual Island is quite pricey for us but okay for most tourists who can afford a P3, 950 per head rate. This Island is being protected by Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation Inc. For more information check out links below:

DANJUGAN ISLAND | The Beach List, Ep. 1
The Philippines is composed of so many islands that if we feature 1 per week, it's gonna take us almost 150 years to finish! Well, we better start counting! ????
For our first episode, here's Danjugan Island, a well-managed marine sanctuary in Negros Occidental, managed by PRRCF. It is NOT a resort, but they accept only a LIMITED number of guests, keeping the area's pristine condition.

What once used to be a threatened and over-fished area is now a protected sanctuary with a dazzling array of marine and terrestrial life. Today, the island serves as an outdoor classroom for students, a research area for conservationists, and a haven for tourists eager to experience nature at its purest.

Hear my prayer for Danjugan;
Help me heal this wounded earth!
Let this be our quiet refuge,
our reefs and forest of Life,
Home to a sacred sea
shoals of angels rest.
On its sky flies a lonely king guarding paradise...
...with a cry every sunrise!
Let this rouse Your soul with a quest not for a man to lose this island,
but for humans and nature to be one.
PS: My love for Danjugan Island started in 1998 as a volunteer diver
with Coral Cay Conservation coralcay.org
when I was part of an expedition surveying the Coral Reefs.
We found an extraordinary biodiversity with 243 different species of hard corals alone.
Danjugan Island is now one of the top 10 destinations in the Philippines and has been awarded as Best managed Reef
Danjugan Island 2017 02 25
Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary protects three major marine ecosystems: coral reefs, sea grass fields and mangrove forests; all extremely important for a healthy ocean! This is an interview with volunteer Sef Alba Carandang of Phil Reef and Rainforest Convervation.
Episode 1: The Divine Sanctuary Cauayan Negros Occ.
Philippines. Negros Occidental. West of Kabankalan City going to Sipalay City. 10 minutes after Dancalan. 3 minutes after the bamboo 'Now Entering Cauayan' sign over the main road. Turn left after Mambugsay Elementary School (blue colored). At the turning of Purok 4, Bangga Birada, Barangay Mambugsay of Cauayan. 2.5km straight road from the highway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a flower, The Divine Sanctuary will help the person grow, roots and bloom. Becoming much more than when they had first arrived and leaving as something so much more.
Our main aim is to create an integrated organic system and Eco-Tourism and mountain destination. An area that can help people learn and connect with nature, in a world that is full of distractions and technology. It will act as a main hub for new facilities and services for the community, as well as helping the personal growth of the individual.
The Divine Sanctuary will educate people with ‘green solutions’ and focus on getting people connected back with nature. This is done by understanding and working together with it as a cycle. The area itself will be a multi-functional ‘hub’ for local and international inputs. With the aims of ‘growing’, ‘creating’ and ‘healing’. Helping people to develop: mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Helping the individual to grow, to be whole and be more of themselves (the pure and authentic self). People will be able to enjoy exploring the area, their passions and who they are. This is to give people direction and suggested guidance to help enrich their lives. Helping people to grow, to be rooted and to eventually bloom.
There will be a focus in all our stores and restaurants towards a ‘balanced diet’ and healthy eating (able to accommodate Vegan and Vegetarian visitors). This will help internationals and locals to focus on a healthier lifestyle and the many benefits of doing this.
The area will provide events for all ages, and activities both for indoors and outdoors. The area itself is roughly 48 Hectares (118 Acres) and will consist mainly of 5 different areas: the ‘Main Farmland’, a ‘Spiritual Temple’, an ‘Area For Tourists’, a lower area for ‘Activities’, and an area for ‘Rest & Relaxation’. The Divine Sanctuary will have mixed spaces: private areas only for tourists and areas that are open to the public and day visitation only. Public spaces will have buildings and activities for: public events, education centers and areas for family gatherings and outings (these areas will be planned accordingly).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The basis of the project is to help people get ‘connected’ with nature and themselves: the human senses, to be grounded, happy in the moment and to be connected to the pure self again. The area will help with the development of: awareness, empathy, mindfulness and self expression (future facilities in the area will provide for these mentioned sections).
