Danube Tower in Vienna, Austria (Donauturm)
Visiting the Danube Tower in Vienna. It has a great bird's eyes view of the city of Vienna. The Millennium Tower on the southwest bank of Danube is visible at time mark 0:06, 0:15, 0:30, 3:13, 3:24 and 4:13. The United Nations complex in Vienna is clearly visible in its entirety at time mark 2:03 and 2:46. It was extremely windy on one side of the lower observation deck (time mark 2:50). The upper observation deck is entirely indoors and is shielded from the wind (time mark 4:06). The urinals in the restroom are facing the windows and men can piss at a great view of Vienna (5:01). The elevator (with a glass ceiling) ride takes only about 45 seconds. (time mark 5:10)

VIENNA PASS REVIEW | Prater, Madam Tussauds, Danube Tower, and UN HQ
Today, I used the Vienna Pass for the second day! And yes, I got to realize my Canadian dream of meeting a waxy Justin Bieber. I was also Queen for a Day. OK, a minute.
The Vienna Pass is different than the Vienna Card. The Vienna Card gives you discounts to a lot of place and is fine. But the Vienna Pass gets you into many top things to do in Vienna for free.
The Vienna Pass is a lot more expensive though. I paid about $120 Euros for a 3-day pass + about 17 Euros for the free transportation add-on. I probably didn't need the transportation add-on because, frankly, the Vienna Hop On Hop Off buses, which are included in the Vienna Pass, got me everywhere I wanted to go.
You can find out if the Vienna Pass is worth it for you by reading my post here.
Is the Vienna Pass Worth the Price:
Today, I visited the Prater. The Prater is a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district. I tried out the Ferris Wheel there and then visited Madam Tussauds Wien.
The highlight for me was visiting the Danube Tower, the highest structure in Austria - at 252 meters high.
Finally, a quick visit tot he UN Headquarters to end the day!
For me, the Vienna Pass was definitely worth it because I was going to see all these Vienna highlights and more.
Whether or not it's right for you depends on what you want to see and how good you are at planning!

AirBnB
While I was in Vienna, I stayed at an AirBnB. If you want to give AirBnB a try on your next trip, I recommend you do. You usually get the privacy of a hotel at a far cheaper price, and it makes your trip more personal.
You can get $40 off your first stay by using our referral link:
Normally here, I'd link to the AirBnB I stayed at. But not this time. It didn't live up to my expectations, so I am not going to recommend this one. Still, AirBnB is an excellent option here in Vienna and there are lots of good bargains.

DANUBE TOWER VIENNA [Donauturm Wien] VIEW FROM TOWER/2017
The Donauturm (English: Danube Tower) is a tower in Vienna, the tallest structure in Austria at 252 metres (827 ft),[1] and among the 75 tallest towers in the world. Opening in April 1964, the tower is located near the north bank of the Danube River in the district of Donaustadt. The hills Leopoldsberg and Kahlenberg are visible in the background.
The Donauturm was constructed during 1962–1964, as designed by architect Hannes Lintl, in preparation for the Viennese International Horticultural Show 1964. The tower stands at 252 metres (827 ft) in height. Groundbreaking took place on 12 October 1962. After approximately 18 months of construction, under the supervision of Eberhard Födisch, the tower was officially opened on 16 April 1964 by Federal President Adolf Schärf.
Since then, it has become a part of the Viennese skyline and has become a popular lookout point and a tourist attraction. It is situated in the middle of the Donaupark, which was built to host the horticultural fair in Vienna's 22nd District, Donaustadt, near the northern bank of the Danube.
wo high-speed elevators transport passengers to the tower's viewing platform at 150 metres (490 ft). Each lift, carrying up to 14 passengers, takes only 35 seconds to reach the observation platform. In strong winds, the elevators travel at only half speed because of the possible fluctuation of the tower: the movement of the elevator cable could be dangerous. By walking about 779 steps (775, according to architects Lintl), the platform can also be reached on foot. The stairs are, however, usually only accessible during the annual Donauturm run, or in an emergency.

Wien - Donauturm
