Old man rescued at sea as Typhoon hits China
The 15th Typhoon this year “Kalmaegi” landed in south China’s Hainan Province on Tuesday.
In Danzhou city that morning, a 57-year old man was trapped 30 meters away from port on his own fishing boat when he tried to pull the boat back to the sea shore. The boat was on the verge of sinking. After 2.5 hours of rescue work by local fire-fighters, the man was finally rescued.

A powerful Communist official in China is suspected to have received 13.5 tonnes of gold and £30 billion cash in bribes.
Thousands of gold bars and bricks were discovered at the leader's home during a raid by corruption inspectors earlier this month.

The 9th edition of the Danzhou Super Grandmaster Tournament is taking place from 27 July to 3 August 2018 in Danzhou on the South China Sea island province of Hainan. This year the 8-player single round-robin features five international grandmasters as well as some top Chinese players.

Driving From Sanya To Haikou along Hainan Western Line.Self-driving!Road Trip! Driving Trip In China
This Hainan Western Line trip was via Sanya, Ledong, Dongfang, Changjiang, Danzhou, Lingao, Chengmai and Haikou on Sept 5th to 6th, 2018. We drove off the highways and other types of roads.
1. We drove from Sanya to Lingao via Ledong, Dongfang, Changjiang and Danzhou on Sept 5, 2018. We visited Sanya Daxiao Dongtian scenic spot, Danzhou Dongpo College, Danzhou Zhonghe Town and Lingao Corner along the way. We stayed at Linao Golden Beach Hot Spring Hotel at night.
2. We drove from Linao to Haikou via Chengmai on Sept 6, 2018. We visited the Crater National Geological Park along the way.
After that, we continued to drive from Haikou to Sanya along the Hainan Eastern Line on September 6, 2018. Please see this video below:

At least 8 dead after tornado hits south China| CCTV English
At least eight people are confirmed dead and two others were injured after a tornado hit Danzhou City, south China's Hainan Province, on Thursday. The incident happened at around 3:00 a.m., causing an apartment building to collapse.

Belkin makes the grand slam
A unique feat in cycling has been achieved by Belkin Pro Cycling as they swept all nine stages and the general classification of the 8th Tour of Hainan that came to a conclusion at Chengmai Old Town. At the end of a tumultuous bunch gallop, Theo Bos grabbed his sixth victory of the week while three-time stage winner Moreno Hofland was crowned overall champion.
It's great, great!, Hofland exulted. In the first couple of days at the Tour of Hainan, I started thinking that it would be nice to win this race. I chased time bonus and my gap to the second rider on GC [Belgium's Frédéric Amorison] kept growing, so I made it! I'm very happy. The Tour of Hainan will always be special for me because it'll remain my first pro win for ever.
Attackers Nikolay Mikhaylov of CCC Polsat and Li Fuyu from Hengxiang went away from the bunch after only seven kilometers and were rejoined later by Synergy Baku's Elchin Asadov. The trio got caught with 10km to go and the finale was marred by two crashes: the Belkin train derailed as lead out men Jos van Emden and Tom Leezer went down with 500 metres to go and three riders (Tom Palmer of Drapac, Andreas Müller and Benedikt Kendler from KTM) crashed as they were crossing the finishing line fighting for places behind Bos and Rico Rogers of Synergy Baku. Michael Kurth of Team Quantec-Indeland closed in third position.
We lost two men but Moreno didn't hesitate at all, Bos described. He led me out. 350 metres before the line, he brought me in a good position. With 150m to go, I started my sprint. I had a mechanical problem with my chain dropping but I had enough speed to bring the victory home.
As our sponsor said, this is a unique moment for Belkin, Bos continued. Never before had a team won all stages and GC in a UCI sanctioned HC race. But we're not the first big team coming to the Tour of Hainan. Argos-Shimano, Astana and other Pro Teams have taken part in this race before us but they haven't delivered as much as we did. We came with a very well balanced team to achieve that. In hilly stages when I was not up there anymore, Moreno was still in the group and the fastest of them all. We're really proud of what we've done. Some people said it wasn't fair or it's been boring but we've done our job in the most professional way we could. We've taken the Tour of Hainan very seriously. We've also worked for our future with learning about our sprint train. We'll take that into next year.
The Tour of Hainan has given the former track star an opportunity to win more than ever since he switched to road cycling after the Beijing Olympics. Moreover, the Chinese event has marked the birth of a champion. Hofland, 22, has the profile of a future very successful cyclist.
Winning here will give me a lot of morale now to train hard for next year and improve my cycling, the young Dutchman said. Here, I've learned how to organize a sprint train, how to deal with the yellow jersey and how to win again because as a young professional, it's rare to win like in the junior ranks. This is very good for my confidence. I'm on the right way to be a good rider, I hope. My ultimate goal in cycling is to win a big classic.
The Belkin riders didn't only enjoy the race but the sceneries and the hospitality as well. Hainan is a beautiful island, my family has to come here for holiday, stated Bos as a conclusion for their historical grand slam.

Flooding Traps Residents in Hainan
Floods triggered by heavy rainstorm on Wednesday trapped hundreds of local residents in parts of south China’s Hainan Province; even overflowed three reservoirs.
By Wednesday afternoon, floodwater level of Gaoming Village in Dongcheng Township of the province’s Danzhou City had reached the waist.
Severe flooding even trapped more than 200 people in their houses, who were later transferred by the local rescuers to lifeboats.
The rescuers searched one house after the other looking for trapped residents till they managed to evacuate all.
In Lingao County’s Dabo Village, rescuers had transferred more than 4000 trapped residents, including a four-month-old baby till 21:00 Wednesday.
The city of Danzhou, Lingao and Baisha counties received a total of 300 mm of rainfall till 22:00 Wednesday.
So far rescuers have transferred over 24000 residents to safety; and no one has been reported to be dead. More on:
