DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Dragon Boat Festival at Times Square, one of the gates' surrounding view
I'm not sure but i'd say this one is north gate. This is the view from June 6th early morning, on the peak day of the festival's celebration.
This video shows on the distance; the bank of communication (dome) building, some apartments in downtown Xincun (red towers), Government office just right across the gate, Bank of china tower--near the red towers, Immigration office, On-going construction of Wanda Plaza, China unicom (torpedo) building, China Mobile tower, etc.
DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Dragon Boat Festival, a park-minibus ride at Times Square.
On the peak day of festival celebration,, June 6th 2011, I decided to take a mini tour with this park-minibus for 10 yuan. Was the only passenger for a little while until some other visitors joined me.
This friendly tour guide didn't go around the lake this time for reasons i should have known if my chinese is fluent enough :p
But, you enjoy what you get i guess, this video shows a glimpse of what's happening at city Times Square on the early day of Dragon Boat Festival celebration. Enjoy!

Daqing China October 1 Holiday
We went camping for three days during our holiday! Amazing times!
It feels good to get out of the city and spend it closer to nature. We traveled west of Daqing past the next major city called Qiqihaer to a small town called Gannan.
It's right next to Inner Mongolia so we traveled there using mostly the back roads and dirt tracks. It's amazing to see the scenery change as you travel through it. Where we live it's mostly flat, out there it's very hilly.
China keeps amazing me every day with what it has to offer.

I needed a thick foam layer for the bed because many mattresses in China are very firm and I wake up with a very stiff back, so my girlfriend and I headed down to the Saerto District with some friends and this is the result of our search.

This is about an hour and a half outside the city. We always go camping here during the summer months. I've always wondered what it looks like in the winter. It's pretty cool. I was worried the car would slide in the snow as there is a few hills around but we made it without any problems. It was a great day out! I really want to do some snow camping out here, so we will see in the next few weeks what happens.

DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Quick view of Daqing People's Hospital & it's bus station
Daqing people's hospital (a.k.a. Ren Min Yi Yuan) is one of big hospitals in Daqing, yet not th biggest one. The biggest one is Daqing Oil Hospital located in Saertu.
For a reason i regularly take bus No. 302 from this hospital to Xin Ma Te (a.k.a Newmart) or Xincun Hospital shelter (a.k.a. Xin Cun Yi Yuan) for 1 yuan.
The front-parking lot functioned as mini bus station of some buses that reach view corners of the city. The fare is around 1-3 yuan depends on the distance. The buses are clean inside, and at certain hours could be super crowded.

DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Bus 302 riding
City bus #302 travels from Daqing People's Hospital (Ren min yi yuan) to Saertu Bus station, and vice versa. From the hospital to Xin Ma Te a.k.a Newmart---a high end dept store/mall in the city, you only pay 1 yuan (about Rp. 1300).
There will be a (usually) lady who collects the fare from each passenger once the bus starts running. This bus doesn't give you ticket--but don't worry they won't ask you twice ;)
The hospital's front-parking lot has extra function: A Station of certain city buses--which is make sense to make sure the hospital can be easily accessed by people from every corners of the city.
This hospital is not the biggest in Daqing but maybe it is for some surrounding neighborhoods.

A simple fender bender creates chaos at an intersection near my apartment. It has all the classic tropes of Chinese driving - blocking an entire street over something stupid, cutting people off, people wandering out into traffic and a cop that completely ignores the situation as he drives by.

DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Li Ming Lake, a heaven for Daqing Fishermans
Becausee Daqing is not coastal area so people make a good use of it lakes for fishing. Two lakes I frequently visit (Times Square & Li Ming) have speakers all around them. Sometimes they play musics/songs so everybody there are able to listen. Like what you would hear in this video ;)
When I took the video, it was around 8am, i wouldn't like to go there in the early morning, would be too crowded! Not sure what kind of fish they have here, but I think that's better than nothing..

北京时间10月1日上午，庆祝中华人民共和国成立70周年大会在北京天安门广场隆重举行。届时，中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平将发表重要讲话，随后举行盛大的阅兵式和群众游行。
阅兵活动按阅兵式、分列式两个步骤进行，时长约80分钟。阅兵式，受阅部队在长安街列阵，光荣接受中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平的检阅。分列式依次按空中护旗梯队、徒步方队、装备方队、空中梯队的顺序通过天安门广场。这次阅兵编59个方（梯）队和联合军乐团，总规模约1.5万人，各型飞机160余架、装备580台（套），是近几次阅兵中规模最大的一次。
群众游行以时间为轴线分为“建国创业”“改革开放”“伟大复兴”三个部分，由约10万名群众、70组彩车组成的36个方阵和3个情境式行进。参加游行的群众涵盖了各族各界、各行各业，其中包括快递小哥、广场舞大妈等群体代表。
On the morning of October 1st, we celebrated the 70th Anniversary Conference of the founding of the people's Congress. At that time, the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission will deliver an important speech, followed by a grand parade and mass parade.
The parade was conducted in two stages, the parade type and the categorization type. The duration of the parade was about 80 minutes. The parade troops were in the battle array, and were honored by the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, the chairman of the CPC Central Committee and the chairman of the Central Military Commission. According to the order of the air guard flag, the walking team, the equipment team and the air echelon, the parade is passed through the square. The parade consisted of 59 teams (ladders) and the United Military Orchestra, with a total scale of about 15,000 people. There were more than 160 aircraft of various types and 580 sets of equipment. This was the largest parade in recent years.
With time as its axis, the mass parade is divided into three parts: the founding of a new country, entrepreneurship, reform and opening up, and great rejuvenation. It consists of about 100,000 people, 70 groups of lottery cars, 36 square arrays and three situational marches. The participants in the procession covered all walks of life and all walks of life, including courier brothers, square dance mothers and other group representatives.
DAQING (CHINA) LIFE: Fan Dance at Wanbao Corner
I heard that Fan Dance is one of customs here in Northern China. I've spotted this just anywhere in the city and Harbin too. What I noticed is the dancer are usually people of above 45 years old, and mostly women. They usually do it in the late afternoon.
This group of dancer is the one that regularly perform across from Qing Ke Long (QKL), famous neighborhood supermarket chain in Daqing, at Wanbao I area.
Around this corner, there are public bath house, traditional street-market, shops, banks (Longjiang Bank), Post office (China post), stationary shop (Zheshing), China mobile, Restaurants, Florist, Xinjiang restaurant, KTV, etc. This location is just about 5 mins walk to the city Times Square.

Bike trip Daqing China
We went on a bike trip to some hot springs outside of Daqing.
Lianhuan Lakes is great in the winter as you get to sit in the pools surrounded by snow, but we went in the summer so no snow. They have a massive cold pool and some fish baths, and they had more hot springs filled up than when we went there in the winter. Great times!
The road we took was pretty straight, we had to dodge a couple of potholes, but it was an easy trip!
