Darts Hill Garden Park - One Woman's Dream
DARTS HILL GARDEN PARK, S. Surrey: Francisca Darts was determined that the 7.5 acre park she had lived in for 55 years would never morph into a subdivision. So, she and her late husband, Edwin, made a deal...with the City of Surrey. They would bequeath their home and land with it's increasing variety of rare plants, shrubs and trees to the City, on the condition that they would live there until their deaths. Thereafter, the City would continue growing, and caring for, their legacy. On a brilliantly sunny May 4, 2013 city officials, friends, and garden enthusiasts, gathered to pay tribute to the determined, respected woman who passed away in Dec. 2012.
