COLD WAR COUNCIL WAR OFFICE (DARTFORD CIVIC CENTRE)
This location has been on my list to do for a while.
The emergency centre built on the ground floor of Dartfords civic centre was completed in 1991 (just as the Cold War ended). It has some interesting remains.
Behind the wooden entrance door you are greeted with a massive concrete and steel blast door (we do catch a glimpse) also outside the office windows are concrete slabs on the floor.
The caps on top would have been removed and a concrete/steel been would be placed into the protecting the back and from of the main emergency centre.
Also the plant room with its exhaust visible from outside still remains.

Places to see in ( Gillingham - UK )
Places to see in ( Gillingham - UK )
Gillingham is a town in the county of Kent in South East England. For local government purposes Gillingham is also in the unitary authority of Medway. Gillingham includes the settlements of Brompton, Hempstead, Wigmore, Parkwood, Rainham, Rainham Mark and Twydall.
Gillingham means a homestead of Gylla's family, from Old English ham (village, homestead) and ingas (family, followers), and was first recorded in the 10th century as Gyllingeham. Also referred to in old texts as Jillyingham Water, hence the pronunciation being Gillingham (the G sounds as a J as in the girls' name Jill).
The Municipal Buildings in Canterbury Street were built as council offices for Gillingham Borough Council. They were opened by the Lord Mayor of London, Sir George Broadbridge, on 25 September 1937. The Lord Mayor was received at Gillingham Railway Station by a guard of honour of boys of HMS Arethusa. When Gillingham Borough Council merged with Rochester upon Medway to form the unitary Medway Authority in 1998, the buildings were still used as council offices and for meetings for several years afterwards.
The town of Gillingham grew along the road from Brompton on the great lines (military barracks), to the railway station. As such it was a linear development. Close by was the road along the shore line, linking The Strand, and the tiny village of Gillingham Green. Later, communiites developed along the top road- Watling street – turnpike linking Chatham with Dover. All these communities merged into the town that is called today Gillingham.
The main source of employment was at Chatham Dockyard, two-thirds of which lay within the boundaries of Gillingham. When it ceased to be a naval base in 1984, there was significant unemployment. A World Heritage Site application is today planned for the Dockyard and its defences.
The Roman road now known as Watling Street passed through Gillingham . The London, Chatham and Dover Railway opened its line between Chatham and Faversham on 25 January 1858; and a country station was opened here called New Brompton. This was to serve the dockyard labourers' homes that had sprung up during the Napoleonic Wars. A branch line led into the dockyard. The station later became Gillingham Railway Station.

Places to see in ( Welling - UK )
Places to see in ( Welling - UK )
Welling is a town in the London Borough of Bexley approximately 10.5 miles east-southeast of Charing Cross, the traditional centre of London. Welling also lies within the historic county of Kent. The East Wickham part of Welling is probably one of the oldest settlements in this area. A Neolithic stone axe was found in East Wickham in 1910, and remains of Roman buildings were unearthed near Danson in 1989.
Before opening of the Bexleyheath Line on 1 May 1895, Welling was a village on the main road from London into Kent (Watling Street). It had been a traditional staging post for coaches; the presence of three inns along the main road is the result of that. Local legend has it that Welling is so called because in the era of horse-drawn vehicles, it could be said you were well in to Kent, or had a well end to the journey up and down Shooters Hill which, at the time was steep, had a poor road surface and was a notorious haunt of highwaymen.
However, local historians have recently concluded that the origin of the name is most likely from 'Welwyn' (meaning 'place of the spring'), due to the existence of an underground spring located at Welling Corner, or possibly a manorial reference to the Willing family, who lived in the area in 1301. Welling is home of the football ground of Welling United F.C. which is shared with the Erith and Belvedere F.C.
A large Russian gun is located at Welling corner. This Russian weapon is a 36-pounder carronade (calibre 6.75 inches - weight 17 cwt) of a type used during the Crimean War (1854 to 1860), displayed on a simple wooden replica carriage. The carronade was in service from 1780 to 1860 and is now on loan from the Royal Artillery Museum in Woolwich as a reminder of Welling's early association with the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, when huts at East Wickham were built as homes for munitions workers in the Great War.

Long Distance Drive: Cirencester to London via M4, M3 and M25
A journey I make roughly once every couple of months – from Cirencester to London (in this particular case to Welling). My route takes me out of Gloucestershire on the A419 and passes through the counties of Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Kent before entering the London Borough of Bexley a couple of miles from my final destination.
Including a refuelling stop in Cirencester and a stop to get some food / stretch my legs in Bracknell, the journey took me 3 hours with 2hrs 30mins of actual driving.
Key Highlights:
0:00 Departure from home in Cirencester
4:57 Refueling at Tesco Extra, Cirencester
9:10 Joining the A419 (Southbound) towards Swindon and the M4
13:00 Entering the county of Wiltshire.
25:40 Joining the Motorway M4 (Westbound) at Swindon.
30:55 Entering the county of Berkshire.
1:01:42 Leaving the M4 and joining the A329(M) to Bracknell
1:07:50 Entering the town of Bracknell
1:09:07 My half-way point – stop at Morrisons Bracknell.
It is at this point I retune my radio to BBC Radio London (I find their travel news a bit better than LBC’s) and switch on the Sat Nav.
1:10:30 Journey from Bracknell to the Motorway M3 at Bagshot.
1:20:30 Entering the county of Surrey.
1:22:43 Joining the Motorway M3 at Bagshot.
1:29:25 The cars in front demonstrate why you should always check your mirrors before changing lanes.
1:31:42 Joining the anticlockwise Motorway M25 towards Gatwick and Dartford.
1:48:51 Overtaking a BBC Surrey branded vehicle (this is exciting stuff for radio people).
2:01:18 Entering the county of Kent.
2:04:25 M25 at junction 5 (Sevenoaks): This is one of those junctions where you have to turn off in order to stay on the motorway.
2:14:28 Leaving the M25 at junction 2 (Dartford) and joining the A2 towards London (SE & C) and Bexleyheath.
2:19:07 Entering the London Borough of Bexley.
2:21:44 Leaving the A2 and entering Welling.
2:28:54 I’ve arrived, and the Sat Nav declares that I have reached my destination.
Places to see in ( Grays Thurrock - UK )
Places to see in ( Grays Thurrock - UK )
Grays is the largest town in the borough and unitary authority of Thurrock in Essex and one of the Thurrock's traditional parishes. Grays Thurrock is approximately 20 miles (32 km) to the east of London on the north bank of the River Thames, and 2 miles (3.2 km) east of the M25 motorway. Its economy is linked to Port of London industries, its own offices, retail and Lakeside, West Thurrock. Its diversely used riverside faces Broadness Lighthouse, Broadness Point, Swanscombe, Kent.
Samuel Pepys recorded in his diary that he visited Grays on 24 September 1665 and apparently bought fish from the local fishermen. Parts of Grays and Chafford Hundred are set within three Victorian chalk pits; the largest two being the Lion Gorge, and the Warren Gorge. Another area of the Chafford Hundred residential development is built on a Victorian landfill site.
Thurrock is a Saxon name meaning the bottom of a ship. The element Grays comes from Henry de Grai, a descendant of the Norman knight Anchetil de Greye, who was granted the manor of Grays Thurrock in 1195 by Richard I. Local sites of interest include the Thameside Theatre, the Thurrock History Museum, Grays Beach and the now-disused State Cinema.
From the top of the Derby Road Bridge in Grays one can look down to Thurrock Yacht Club, Grays Beach children's playground and the River Thames. As well as Thurrock Yacht Club, Grays Beach is the site of the local landmark The Gull, a lightship built in 1860, which has lain on the foreshore for decades and is now in a serious state of dilapidation. The Thurrock Campus of South Essex College relocated to a new complex in the town centre in September 2014.
The town is approximately 20 miles (32 km) to the east of London on the north bank of the River Thames, and 2 miles (3.2 km) east of the M25 motorway its economy is linked to Port of London industries, its own offices, retail and Lakeside, West Thurrock. Its variously used riverside (from homes through wild bird-habitat marshland to importation, storage and distribution) faces Broadness Lighthouse, Broadness Point, Swanscombe, Kent.
Grays has good road links, being close to the A13 road and the M25 motorway. The A126 London Road is the main road which links Grays town centre with Lakeside Shopping Centre, Purfleet and Tilbury. Grays railway station runs through the centre of the built-up core and is served by c2c and runs between Fenchurch Street station in the City of London to the west and Shoeburyness to the east. Also Grays bus station by the station above is a hub for most bus services in Thurrock. The bus services are operated by Ensignbus, First Essex, Arriva Southend, Imperial Buses and Regal Busways.

Huy + Leyen London Wedding
Huy + Leyen were one of the nice's couples we ever met. This was our first time to ever met them on the day of their tea ceremony celebration of course normally we would meet the couples at least a month before we start of our shoot and i can imagine for them to have cameras in front of them will be quite intimidating.
However we knew as this was a 2 day wedding shoot it would be more polite to try and introduces our selves and our personalities to make their day more fun and enjoyable while we do work. And this lead us not only not only an enjoyable and fun day for us and the friends and family but importantly we have met the nice's , polite, funny and great people.
The Wedding was held at Danson house a beautiful reception situated along Bexleyheath in Kent. With antique interior but a very modern building. The gathering with friends and family was then met up in a popular chinese restaurant called Yi Ban along the City of London Airport.
