I went to a daruma fair in Jindaiji Temple. The form that a hierarch sits in Zen meditation is origin for a daruma doll. Something to wish the daruma doll for Japanese is called lucky charm (Engimono), and that a good thing happens and celebrate.
A daruma fair in Jindaiji Temple is one of Japan three large daruma fairs. A large number of Japanese visit and buy a daruma doll. The character and a black circle are written on a left eye on a bought day, and when a wish accords one year later, writes the character and a black circle on a right eye and holds a service with thanks.
I was astonished that Gegege no Kitaro and Nezumi Otoko were here!

The temple is a Buddhist temple located in Chofu-shi, Chika-shi, Temple town, Chofu, Tokyo. In Tendai sect exceptional Motoyama, the mountain is Mt. One of Japan's three major Daruma-shi is known as Fukaji Temple City. The neighboring Tokyo Metropolitan Tsunami Botanical Gardens was the former temple.

Not at lot of people know about Jindaiji temple, it is kind of a hidden spot here in Tokyo. But funnily it is the 2nd largest temple in all of Tokyo. Everyone who visits Tokyo heads for MejiJingu which is fantastic but Jindaiji has the added bonus of also having a traditional Japanese town. Which makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to the Edo period.
The town itself is famous for soba noodles and has many restaurants, in which you can enjoy awesome views and even better food.
If you are traveling to Tokyo and you want to see a fantastic example of Japanese traditional temples then you need to see Jindaiji.

We went to Jindaiji Temple! It's actually the second oldest temple in Tokyo - but most people have never heard of it.
It's a bit far from central Tokyo, so it doesn't get the same crowds as the temples in Asakusa and Ueno.
In fact, after three years of living in Tokyo, this was my first time going. I hadn't even heard of it.
We went just as hanami (sakura flower viewing) season started - so we got to see some lovely hanami as well.

MRE 14. Jindaiji Temple is the second oldest temple in Tokyo, Japan and it has an amazing assortment of delicious street food and INCREDIBLE prices!
Jindaiji is located in the outskirts of Tokyo, so it's definitely a local attraction versus the very touristy places like Sensoji and Meiji. Although there is a lack of english menus here, the prices for DELICIOUS street food is about half of it's touristy counterparts!
We had manju (sweet dough with filling), soba bun sandwiches, dango (mochi sweets on skewers), and osenbei (rice crackers) to name a few treats!
Also a MUST TRY when visiting Jindaiji is sampling some of Tokyo's best soba noodles! Jindaiji is famous for its soba noodles as the water here is so clear and pristine!
In addition to the scrumptious street food and delicious soba noodles, you will enjoy a beautiful and serene temple, with gorgeous scenery as you are surrounded by nature.

Tokyo in Two: Jindaiji Temple (深大寺)
Jindaiji temple is the second oldest temple in the Tokyo region. Located in the Chofu suburb of Tokyo, Jindaiji has experienced a recent resurgence in popularity. The manga series GeGeGe no Kitaro has a prominent place in this resurgence. Shigeru Mizuku created the manga series and his wife recently starred in a popular television drama about their life. This drama was partially filmed in Jindaiji.
This is part one of the Jindaiji episode. Next week we will show you Jindaiji's specialty cuisine.

Jindaiji ’s official name is Tendaishubekkakuhonzanfugakusanshorakuinjindaiji.
Fugaku is called so, because from the distance it looks as if the mountain is floating, and was used as a landmark when people came from afar.

深大寺（じんだいじ）は、東京都調布市深大寺元町五丁目にある天台宗別格本山の仏教寺院である。山号は浮岳山。
日本三大だるま市の1つ「深大寺だるま市」で知られている。隣接する東京都立神代植物公園は旧寺領であった。
「深大寺」の名称は、仏法を求めて天竺（インド）を旅した中国僧玄奘三蔵を守護したとされる水神「深沙大王」（じんじゃだいおう）に由来していると伝えられている。 天平5年（733年）満功上人が法相宗の寺院として開創したと伝える。859年、天台宗に改宗する。1646年と1865年に火災に遭っており、堂宇の大半を失っている。現在の本堂は大正年間の再建である。
本尊は本堂に安置の阿弥陀三尊像。東京都では浅草の浅草寺に次ぐ古刹である。

テレビ広報ちょうふ2019年3月12日号で放送された特集です。
毎年3月3日・4日に深大寺で開催される「厄除元三大師大祭」。この大祭に合わせて行われるのがこの縁起だるま市で、境内には約300のだるま店が立ち並び、深大寺を朱に染めます。今回はこの「深大寺だるま市」をご紹介します。

Dedicated to the popular 1960s Youkai Anime by Shigeru Mizuki. So small yet amazing little place! As amazing as Ghibli Museum even! Must visit for Kitaro fans!
Even if you've never seen the series but like Youkai or enjoy Anime, you might like this place.

参道には「鬼太郎茶屋」があり参詣者の心を和ませます。
