महाराष्ट्रात भरपूर किल्ले आहेत, पण आता त्यापैकी भरपूर किल्ल्यांची पडझड होत आहे आणि यामध्ये असलेला इतिहास त्या पडझडीप्रमाणे नाहीसा होत चालला आहे. आपण तर पाहू शकलो पण पुढच्या पिढीचे काय? मला वाईट वाटते कि या इतिहासातील सगळ्या गोष्टी नाहीश्या होत चालल्या आहेत आणि आपले त्याकडे दुर्लक्ष्य होत आहे. मला वाटले या व्हिडिओ मधून थोडा तरी इतिहास पुढच्या पिढीसाठी जपून राहील व पुढच्या पिढीला किल्ला काय असतो हे समजायला मदत होईल, नाहीतर किल्ला काय आहे हे माहित नाही असे ऐकायला येण्यास वेळ लागणार नाही. यासाठी माझा हा छोटासा प्रयन्त.
मी दौलताबाद किल्ल्यावर गेलो होतो, त्यावेळी घेतलेली हि क्षणचित्रे. किल्ला अजूनही न जिंकता येण्यासारखाच आहे कारण किल्ल्याची भक्कम अशी तटबंदी. किल्ल्यावर जाण्यासाठी साधारण २-३ तास लागतात तुम्ही जर सर्व गोष्टी पाहत गेलात तर. किल्ल्याची सुरवात भक्कम अशा दरवाज्यांपासून होते बाहेरच्या भागाला महाकोट असे बोलतात. पहिल्या दरवाज्यातून आत गेल्यावर वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारच्या तोफा आपल्याला दिसतात त्यांच्याकडे पाहून आपल्याला किल्ल्याच्या भक्कम अश्या सरंक्षणाची ओळख येते. तुम्ही वाचण्यापेक्षा जर व्हिडिओ पहिला तर तुम्हाला चांगल्या प्रकारे किल्ल्याची ओळख पटेल.

However it is also considered to be one of the seven wonders of Maharashtra and a developing tourist spot.
The historical triangular fort of Daulatabad was built by first Yadava king Bhillama V in 1187. [10]
Starting 1327, it famously remained the capital of
Tughlaq dynasty , under Muhammad bin Tughluq (r. 1325-1351), who also changed its name, and forcibly moved the entire population of Delhi for two years before it was abandoned for lack of water and Tughluq was constantly known to shift the capital from Delhi to Daulatabad and Daulatabad to Delhi. [11]
There is a belief that Devagiri was built in 1203 AD by a Dhangar or herdsman who acquired vast wealth by his good fortune. He had a brother who was a shepherd named 'Raja Ram' and in correlation with it he assumed the rank of a Raja (King).

In mythological stories its been told that lord Shiva stayed on the hills surrounding the fort Daulatabad, hence the name Devgiri killa was given to this fort. Devgiri means hills of god.
Daulatabad fort is among the most secured fort in India from the military point of view.
Speciality of Daulatabad fort is it has only one Entry and Exit. There is no separate exit. Difficult construction of Gates and curved pathways are the specialty of the fort.
You need to hike around 750 steps to reach to the top of the fort, but once you reach there the you can see the mesmerising view of the city.
Daulatabad fort is built on a 200 meter high conical hill, which provides this fort a strategic position, architectural beauty and protection from the enemies.
The unique feature of this fort is its engineering genius. No two entrances are in front of each other is the specialty of this fort.
One of the attraction at Daulatabad fort is Chand Minar, the second tallest minar after Qutab Minar. Chand Minar is 210 ft in height and 70 ft. in circumference at the base. It was erected by Ala-ud-din Bahmani in 1445.
Bharatmata Mandir built in 1947 after Independence is one of the spot you must visit.

Daulatabad fort is among the best-preserved forts in India, which has survived so many years without any alteration.
If you are in Aurangabad and have atleast 2 hours to spend this fort is worth the visit.

Much of the lower slopes of the hill has been cut away by Yadava dynasty rulers to leave 50 meter vertical sides to improve defenses. The fort is a place of extraordinary strength. The only means of access to the summit is by a narrow bridge, with passage for not more than two people abreast, and a long gallery, excavated in the rock, which has for the most part a very gradual upward slope.

The historical triangular fort of Daulatabad was built by first Yadav king Bhilan in 1187.
There is a belief that Devagiri was built in 1203 AD by a Dhangar or herdsman who acquired vast wealth by his good fortune. He had a brother who was a shepherd named 'Raja Ram' and in correlation with it he assumed the rank of a Raja (King).
The area of the city includes the hill-fortress of Devagiri (Marathi) (sometimes Latinised to Deogiri). It stands on a conical hill, about 200 meters high. The fort was built by the Seuna (Yadava) king Bhillama V in 1187 AD. The region was then called Devgiri or Deogiri.
The fort had the following specialities which are listed along with their advantages :
1. No separate exit from the fort, only one entrance/exit - This is designed to confuse the enemy soldiers to drive deep into the fort in search of an exit, at their own peril.
2. No parallal gates - This is designed to break the momentum of theconfusing the invading army. Also, the flag mast is on the left hill, which the enemy will try to capitualte, thus will always turn left. But the real gates of the fort are on the right & the false ones on the left, thus confusing the enemy.
3. Spikes on the gates - In the era before gun-powder, intoxicated elephants were used as a battering ram to break open the gates. The presence of spikes ensured that the elephants died of injury.
4. Complex arrangement of entryways, curved walls, false doors - Designed to confuse the enemy, false, but well-designed gates on the left side lured the enemy soldiers in & trapped them inside, eventually feeding them to crocodiles.
5. The hill is shaped like a smooth tortoise back - this prevented the use of mountain lizards as climbers, because they cannot stick on it.

The site had been occupied since at least 100 BCE, and now has remains of Buddhist caves similar to those at Ajanta and Ellora.The city is said to have been founded c. 1187 by Bhillama V, a prince who renounced his allegiance to the Chalukyas and established the power of the Yadava dynasty in the west.
Daulatabad or 'the abode of wealth' was the name given by Muhammad-bin-Tughluq when he made his capital here in A.D. 1327. The ancient name being 'Devagiri' or 'Deogiri' meaning 'Hill of Gods' under the Yadavas of Deogiri. The Yadavas were initially ruling under the Chalukyas of Kalyani over region of modern Dhulia and Nasik districts with their capital at Chandradityapura (modern Chandor, Nasik district).

This is my first trip to Aurangabad. I reached Aurangabad at 9PM by train. I already booked a dormitory in the railway station, which is the best way to stay on a budget trip. The dormitory costs 49/- per 12 hours. After keeping the bag in a locker, I went outside the station. The food is very cheap in Aurangabad, and I tasted a lot of items.

Today my plan to visit Bibi ka Maqbara, Doulatabad Fort, Ellora Caves, and Aurangzeb's Tomb. Bibi ka Maqbara is 5KM away from the railway station. I hitchhiked two bikes and reached there within 20 minutes. Bibi ka Maqbara looks like Taj Mahal. It was commissioned by Aurangzeb's Son Azam in the memory of his Mother Dilras Banu Begum. Due to the strong resemblance, Bibi ka Maqbara is also called the Dakkhani Taj (Taj of the Deccan). I spent 1 hour there and returned to the next destination, Daulatabad Fort.
Daulatabad Fort is located on the northwest of Aurangabad, about 20Km away from railway station. magnificent 12th-century fortress stands on a hill, Built by Raja Bhillamraj was once known as 'Devgiri', Initially a Yadav stronghold, it passed through the hands of several dynasties in the Deccan. The ‘Daulatabad’ (city of fortune) name was given by Muhamad Tughlaq, Sultan of Delhi. I reached there by hitchhiking on two bikes. I took less than two hours to reach the top. The view from the top is awesome. You can see the nearby places from the top. After spending couples of hours on the fort, I started moving towards Ellora Caves.
Ellora caves 14 KM away from the Daulatabad Fort. After waiting minutes near fort's entrance, I managed to hitchhike on another bike. The road towards the Ellora side crosses a big ghat. Ellora Caves is yet another UNESCO identified World Heritage site and is a true depiction of different religions residing together as it contains Buddhist, Hindu & Jain religious temples and religious art in the form of exquisite sculpture patronized by Hindu kings. Covering all 34 caves can be a great challenge in the interest of time, however, it is definitely a must to see a glimpse of each religion variety. I have covered all caves except two. The Kailash Temple which sits at the centre of the Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves is one of the largest rock-cut temples carved out of a single rock. I spent a couple of hours to see all the caves and finally returned to Aurangabad.
