Dauphin, Manitoba RR Museum and CNR Station
During a recent trip to Canada, stopped in Dauphin, Manitoba and visited their rail museum which has a neat little HO layout. The facility is an active CNR Station with schedule passenger trains.
The building itself is spectacular, originally built in 1912 and in awesome condition. Thanks to the museum staff for running a few trains on a Sunday morning!
Canadian Northern Railway Station, Dauphin, MB
Massive and complex, the importance of Dauphin as a railway hub is evident in the station the Canadian Northern Railway built in 1912. Design features abound; the roofline is a marvel. Dauphin has done an admirable job at maintaining the place and keeping it useful in the community a hundred years after it was built. Today it houses offices and the Dauphin Rail Museum. While their hockey parents duke it out in the bleachers, the two would-be forwards show off their skills (i.e. no skills) and must keep a Zamboni under 10kms to make a bad movie reference! Was out in Dauphin, MB for a wedding, took a few minutes to get some video around the hotel we were staying at. Using a fairly good filter really helped on a bright day. Great view of the highway and some farmland.

Back to September 27, 2003, Essex Terminal Railway #9 puts on a spectacular show departing the Stratford Ontario Canada railway station with an excursion train to Goderich Ontario and return. Assisting on the rear of the train is one of the GEXR FP9A's which are now owned by the Ontario Southland Railway.
