Cycling The Dava Way - Southern Two Thirds - April 2017
The Dava Way is located in Moray in Northern Scotland. It runs between Grantown-on-Spey in the South to Forres in the North (or vice versa) and follows the old railway line between the two. It is a fantastic cycle or walk with varied scenery (moorland, forestry, farmland etc) and is off the main roads with no car traffic at all.
Dava Moor Scotland. Fast drive on unknown road.
Never driven this amazing road before. The wife, Wendy, had. She wasn't impressed with the speeds as you can tell hahaha. Reached speeds that the vid does not do justice!
Best road I ever drove! Hit a young dear sadly, (guilt ridden) but it was unhurt, as was the beemer. Avoided another as you can see.
Turn it up to listen to the engine, and the gears selection that I said out loud, at times.
Look out for part 2, driven safely in the daylight. Beautiful part of the UK!!
4K City Walks: Cullen to Findlater Castle - Scottish Coastal Walking Treadmill video
4K City Walks: Cullen to Findlater Castle - Scottish Coastal Walking Treadmill video is new and different for me.
I'm trying a different kind of virtual walk this time. I do a lot of nature walks but I haven't filmed any of them. This is a treadmill trails walk along the Moray Coastal Trail to Findlater Castle. It's a 16th century castle ruin perched on a cliff above a rocky sea. The day was rainy and I did my best to keep the rain off the lens. The walk is partially on paved and gravel path but mostly single track through tall grass and over Sunnyside beach which is small but secluded.
Please let me know if you like this type of virtual hike or not. I suspect those looking for a treadmill virtual walk will like it and others more interested in travel and cities might not.
Thanks for watching. Please subscribe.
From Wikipedia
Findlater Castle:
Findlater Castle is the old seat of the Earls of Findlater and Seafield, sitting on a 50-foot (15 m)-high cliff overlooking the Moray Firth on the coast of Banff and Buchan, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It lies about 15 km (9.3 mi) west of Banff, near the village of Sandend, between Cullen and Portsoy. The cliffs here contain quartz; the name Findlater is derived not from Norse as earlier stated here, but from the Scots Gaelic words fionn (white) and leitir (cliff or steep slope). The first historical reference to the castle is from 1246. King Alexander III of Scotland repaired this castle in the 1260s in preparation for an invasion by King Haakon IV of Norway. The Vikings took and held the castle for some time. The castle remains that are still there are from the 14th-century rebuilding, when the castle was redesigned based on the Roslyn Castle model.
The castle is a scheduled monument.

Moray Coastal Trail:
The Moray Coastal Trail is a long distance path in north-east Scotland that along the coastline of the Moray council area. The route, which is 72 km long, runs between Forres and Cullen. It is designated as one of Scotland's Great Trails by Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), and connects with two further Great Trails: the Speyside Way at Spey Bay, and the Dava Way at Forres. The Moray Coast Trail can be combined with sections of these two routes to form a 153 km circular route known as the Moray Way, and also forms part of the North Sea Trail. The trail is primarily intended for walkers, but many sections are also suitable for cycling and horseriding. An alternative route for cycling, the Moray Coast Ride, shares some sections of path with the Moray Coast Trail, and forms part of the National Cycle Network's Route 1. About 23,000 people use the path every year, of whom about 1,000 complete the entire route.
SNH recommend that the trail be walked west to east (from Forres to Cullen), due to the direction of the prevailing winds. In this direction the following settlements are passed: Forres, Kinloss, Findhorn, Burghead, Hopeman, Lossiemouth, Spey Bay, Portgordon, Buckie, Findochty, Portknockie, Cullen. Places of note along the route are the Covesea Skerries Lighthouse and Bow Fiddle Rock.

Cairngorm to Coast - 2017
Organised alongside local outdoor adventure charity, Outfit Moray/Bike Revolution,Cairngorm to Coast is a 100km hike and bike challenge that takes place against the backdrop of the magnificent Cairngorm National Park and along the beautiful scenery of the Dava Way. Taking you from the heights of the Highlands to the coast of Moray, it's the area's most stunning duathlon and is run on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The challenge is held in May each year and begins at Cairngorm Ski Centre carpark when entrants hike down towards the Sugar Bowl, through Glenmore Forest to Glenmore Lodge, on towards Nethy Forest and Lyngarry towards Nethy Bridge, where they join the Speyside Way to the Force Development Training Centre in Grantown-on-Spey. There, the hikers will hang up their muddy boots, whilst the duathlon participants will change into their cycling gear and head on to the Dava Way, which will take them all the way to Forres, after which they will join a local SUSTRANS route to the RAF Lossiemouth childcare centre, 70km later.
Do not be fooled, this is a gruelling challenge and requires plenty of training and preparation. The local climate is extremely changeable and you could be starting the hike in the snow!
There is more detailed information on next year's page and you can even add it to your Google calendar now!
Entrants will receive an information pack through the post which will contain their race number and training advice for the lead up to the event. There will be a pasta party the night before, where the bikers will drop their bikes off with Outfit Moray before receiving their their event t-shirts (generously supplied by Dallas Designs) and a goody bag, which contacts a bottle of delicious Windswept Brewing Co beer, because we all know it's best when you've earned it!
Cairngorm to Coast is organised by Team RAFBF Lossiemouth and supported logistically by Outfit Moray.
To keep up with the information on each year's event, you can visit our Facebook page or join in the chatter in the Facebook group. Have a read through previous years' stories and see if you think you are up to the challenge!

WARNING!
Do YOU fly or want to fly a remote controlled aircraft in the UK?
To avoid injuring or killing people first and foremost, but also therefore becoming the person who causes a huge shake up in who can and cannot legally operate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, (RPAS) make sure you know UK CAA airspace regulations with regard to RC aircraft under 20Kg.
Here's a basic summary of the ones to keep in mind:
• The maximum permitted altitude is 400 feet (120 metres) above ground level
• The maximum distance RPAS can be flown from the operator is 500 metres
• The minimum visibility needs to be 5 km
• RPAS must be flown in line of sight of the operator
• An RPAS cannot be flown at night without special permission from the CAA
• Permission must be obtained from the owner of the take-off point
• An RPAS cannot be flown within 50 metres of structures, vehicles or people that are not under the control of the person in charge of the aircraft
• An RPAS cannot be flown over or within 150 metres of any built up area

E para ganhar a aprovação do projeto, o Port Authority of New York and New Jersey concordou em assumir o controle da Hudson & Manhattan Railroad tornando-se a Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH).
O processo de limpeza e recuperação do terreno do World Trade Center durou oito meses.
