Jian Ghomeshi born June 9, 1967 is a Canadian broadcaster, writer and musician born in London, England, and raised in Thornhill, Ontario. He is widely known as a former national on-air personality on CBC Television and CBC Radio, and host of the daily arts program Q on CBC Radio One. He has hosted various series on TV and radio including The National Playlist, ZeD and spent three years as the host of the TV program play, where he interviewed people ranging from Woody Allen to John Lydon.
Ghomeshi is of Iranian heritage. He graduated with merit from York University with a degree in political science and history.

PIDC's All-Inclusive Mabuhay Parade in Toronto
The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) capped its two-day Mabuhay Fiesta with a parade along the streets of downtown Toronto bordering David Pecaut Square. Philippine Consul General Rosalita Prospero and PIDC president Norma Carpio led the march on Sunday, Aug. 30.

They also partnered with Second Harvest, the largest food rescue program in Canada, as our official community sponsor this year.

100 Day Countdown at David Pecaut Square with Lou Ragagnin

Mabuhay Philippines Festival in Downtown Toronto on Aug. 29-30
The signature event that started it all - Mabuhay Philippines Festival - rolls off on the weekend of August 29-30 featuring seven of the most popular fiestas in the Philippines. In addition to this ethnocultural presentation at David Pecaut Square on John and King streets in downtown Toronto, sponsoring organization Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) is also offering fashion show produced by Agnes Miranda highlighting creations by renowned designers Renee Salud and Shanon Pamaong.
Among the performers are the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe, Culture Philippines of Ontario, “Musika” Mississauga Children's Chorus, Acoustic Divas with Karen Tan, Ana Rajante and Neil Haub; dance presentations and martial arts demonstrations by Combat Science.
PIDC president Norma Carpio said the free events are just some of the main attractions that also include local Filipino Canadian talents like The Muso Project, The Belinda Corpuz Band, Gian Carlo Bobilla Group and Yan Yon All Stars. Other performers include winners of Sing Galing - Berlane Gavino, Elle Renee; Lady Elvis Zena Zagala, Chyrell Samson, Jennifer Uy, Rolly Gatchalian, Jenifer Camacho and Amsky Ramos Chan.
