Ulkoministeri Soini Israelissa
Suomen ulkoministeri Timo Soini teki ensimmäisen virallisen vierailun Israeliin kesäkuun alussa 2016. Jerusalemissa tehdyssä haastattelussa Soini vastaa Suomen ja Israelin suhteeseen liittyviin kysymyksiin.
Ulkoministeri Soini ei tullut Israeliin ratkaisemaan Lähi-idän konfliktia vaan rakentamaan suhdetta. Israelissa hyvän vastaanoton saaneen Soinin mukaan Suomi on Israelin ystävä.

The Final Day in LA, then a Long Journey Back to Tel Aviv- Episode 101
This episode is a bit short despite the fact that I had back to back meetings. I managed to squeeze in a great meal at La Gondola - but before that I checked out the McLaren dealership across the street. Both the meat and the cars did not disappoint - to say the least! I like LA, it's very chilled out, but it's always good to be back home!

cooking in Israel with Orly
The most fantastic time cooking in Israel
Reviewed August 29, 2013
Nothing can compare to this day we spent with Orly and her family cooking in Israel. Me met at the Carmel market where we had a wonderful breakfast and conversation. Orly took us through the market explaining the local foods and spices. We shopped for the day of cooking and then traveled to her magnificent home outside of Tel Aviv.... read more:
שרים בסנטה אנה Singing at St Anne's
Our seniors of the Aleph High School of Arts, Tel Aviv invited me to take them for a goodbye tour in the Old City of Jerusalem. We went to the 5th century Church of St Anne, near St Stephen's Gate, where groups are invited to sing any religious song - irrespective of the religion. They sang the Jewish hymn of On the Rivers of Babylon. — at the Church of St. Anne.
Shuvu Dinner Israel 5770
The theme of this year's annual Shuvu dinner at the Ramada Renaissance hotel in Yerushalayim was hakaras hatov for the Shuvu schools that were saved from closing this year. The dinner opened with opening remarks by Rabbi Gutterman, followed by a performance by the students of the Rechovot Shuvu school. Two Shuvu talmidim recited some enthralling vorts before HaRav Lazerson, Rosh Chinuch Atzmai, spoke of the importance of the organization. A former student, Yisroel Magen, played a few notes and spoke a few words. Rav Zilberberg made a bracha of hatov u'meitiv on a cup of white wine, after which Rav Gedalia Weinberger spoke. The last speaker was HaRav Shmuel Kaminetsky, Rosh HaYeshiva Philadelphia. The dinner ended with everyone dancing together (Yehuda Boltshauser / Kuvien Images)

Searching for Jewish Heritage with Joseph Berger
When Joseph Berger was growing up in the Bronx, his mother described Otwock, her hometown in Poland, as an enchanted spot graced by tall pine trees, lush lilac bushes and bracing air. After she died, Joe and his sister went back to Poland and visited their parents' childhood homes for the first time. What they discovered on their roots journey was both emotional and surprising.
Mr. Berger, a former New York Times reporter and the author of the acclaimed memoir, Displaced Persons: Growing up American after the Holocaust, joined us at the Center for Jewish History on May 17 to share stories and photos from his fascinating journey and offers tips for successful family searches abroad. Reflecting on the current political climate in Poland and how it might impact a similar journey today, Joe was joined by Jonathan Ornstein the Executive Director of the JCC in Krakow and Helise Lieberman, Director of the Taube Center for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland.
Presented in conjunction with Family History Today, the Center's monthly genealogy program series.

Jewish culture
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Jewish culture is the culture of the Jewish people from the formation of the Jewish nation in biblical times through life in the diaspora and the modern state of Israel. Judaism guides its adherents in both practice and belief, so that it has been called not only a religion, but an orthopraxy. Not all individuals or all cultural phenomena can be classified as either secular or religious, a distinction native to Enlightenment thinking.Jewish culture in its etymological meaning retains linkage to the Jewish people's land of origin, the people named for the Kingdom of Judah, study of Jewish texts, practice of community charity, and Jewish history. The term secular Jewish culture therefore refers to many aspects, including: Religion and World View, Literature, Media, and Cinema, Art and Architecture, Cuisine and Traditional Dress, attitudes to Gender, Marriage, and Family, Social Customs and Lifestyles, Music and Dance. Secular Judaism, is a distinct phenomenon related to Jewish secularization - a historical process of divesting all of these elements of culture from their religious beliefs and practices.Secular Judaism, derived from the philosophy of Moses Mendelssohn, arose out of the Haskalah, or Jewish Enlightenment, which was itself driven by the values of the Enlightenment. In recent years, the academic field of study has encompassed Jewish Studies, History, Literature, Sociology, and Linguistics. Historian David Biale has traced the roots of Jewish secularism back to the pre-modern era. He, and other scholars highlight the Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza, who was dubbed the renegade Jew who gave us modernity by scholar and novelist Rebecca Newberger Goldstein in an intellectual biography of him. Today, the subject of Jewish secularization is taught, and researched, at many North American and Israeli universities, including Harvard, Tel Aviv University, UCLA, Temple University and City University of New York which have significant Jewish alumni. Additionally, many schools include the academic study of Judaism and Jewish culture in their curricula.
Throughout history, in eras and places as diverse as the ancient Hellenic world, in Europe before and after the Age of Enlightenment, in Al-Andalus, North Africa and the Middle East, in India and China, and in the contemporary United States and Israel, Jewish communities have seen the development of cultural phenomena that are characteristically Jewish without being at all specifically religious. Some factors in this come from within Judaism, others from the interaction of Jews with host populations in the diaspora, and others from the inner social and cultural dynamics of the community, as opposed to religion itself. This phenomenon has led to considerably different variations of Jewish culture unique to their own communities.
