Davis Bay Pier 1930's - 2014 Sechelt Sunshine Coast BC
Tribute to Davis Bay pier, Sechelt, Sunshine Coast BC Canada. Black and white archival photos from 1930's (pier) and 50's (beach) courtesy Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives. The museum told me that back then, the entire area was called 'Wilson Creek' till it later became known as 'Davis Bay'.

Davis Bay Beach is a great place to visit especially in the summer. Sit on a bench and watch windsurfers, feel the fresh ocean breeze while listening to the waves and watching seals and sealions play. Enjoy the sandy beaches in low-tide or hang out by the pier where people try their luck fishing and crabbing, while others swim around the pier.

Sechelt Sandcastle Competition (2019) Beach Walk - Davis Bay
Sechelt Sandcastle Competition was held at the Davis Bay Beach on July 14, 2019. This walking tour is a short 360° recording of my beach walk during the event.
The Davis Bay Sandcastle Competition was an event by the Sunshine Coast Lions Club Sechelt. This fun family event was a competition between teams which paid $10 registration fee. Each of these teams had a 10′ x 10′ quadrant to build their sculpture on using only natural materials found on the beach. Judging criteria included originality, difficulty, execution, use of space and the wow factor.

Davis Bay Sandcastle Competition 2010 Sechelt BC
This year the gods favoured Sechelt with excellent weather - high overhead cloud for the morning, when the bulk of the sandcastle building was happening, and then most of the cloud cover was shuffled from centre stage to allow the sun to pour down on all of the visitors to the beach taking in the creations. My personal favorites were the dragon & bunny, and the big rabbit, but the tank was an inspiration and the wreck diving piece was extremely creative and novel in the approach of making the beach the top surface of the sea for the diver to begin descent.
