Dawlish as sea wall collapses
Kevin Ward, of the Environment Agency, says it is going to take a lot of time to repair the damaged railway track in Dawlish, Devon, as huge waves continue to batter the sea wall
In Dawlish, between Exeter and Cornwall, a section of seawall under the coastal railway line collapsed and two people had to be rescued from a car.
First Great Western said all lines between Exeter St Davids and Penzance had been closed and it was unable to offer alternative bus services because of disruption to the roads from the storms.
Residents were evacuated from 30 flooded houses in Kingsand, Cornwall, as well as on the seafront at Torcross in Devon as the high tide smashed the fronts of four properties.
There was further flooding in Looe, where people have been advised to stay away from the seafront amid fears of huge waves.

Just how high is the new new Dawlish Sea Wall going to be?
Just how high is the new sea wall at Dawlish going to be, in real terms. On Saturday last, a group from the Dawlish Town Council and supporters met on the sea wall. An ingenious graphic display was shown to all those who attended and local resident and holiday makers enjoying an afternoon promenade.
It is amazing to see just how high the planned wall is going to be and how much the view will be affected to all. Especially the children, infirm and disabled. Access to those in wheelchairs and children in prams will effectively be destroyed. Dawlish Tourism depends heavily on the proximity of the beach and railway. This wall will effectively destroy the reason to come to Dawlish.

Rough Seas Huge Waves and Bad Weather in Dawlish along Marine Parade, Kings Walk and Dawlish Railway Station.
I got drenched by the huge wave crashing over the sea wall and railway station.
Commuters got wet waiting for trains and even the train manager got hit by a bit of a wave.
