Daxi adalah daerah yang dikembangkan paling awal di Taoyuan. Berkat perahu layar kecil yang berlayar di antara Dahan Creek dan Sungai Tamsui, Daxi memiliki perdagangan yang berkembang pesat dengan China, dan kemakmurannya membawa kesuksesan bagi banyak toko dan pengusaha. Daxi Old Street (大溪老街) is probably one of the nicer and more well-maintained of all of Taiwan’s old-streets. This place is located in The Daxi Old Street is a street in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The street, which is also known as “Peace Street” (和平路) is renowned in Taiwan for it's architectural style and it draws large crowds of people on weekends wanting to experience a bit of Taiwanese history.
The scenic attractions in the area include Daxi Bridge, Lee Teng-Fang Ancient Residence, Wude Temple, Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum, etc. Daxi Old Street provides not only traditional Taiwanese toys, but also authentic must-try Taiwanese delicacies, including Daxi dried tofu, moonlight cakes, peanut caramel candies, tofu puddings, salty rice puddings and rice dumplings. When traveling in Taoyuan, be sure to visit Daxi Old Street, where you will experience the true Taiwanese flavor!

The Daxi Wood Art Ecomuseum is a museum complex in Daxi District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The establishment of this museum started with the renovation of building in the area and incorporated them with the local old streets which was initiated in 1996. The first museum building opened to the public is the Number One Hall, a Japanese-style house constructed in the 1920s. It was also the residence for the principle of Daxi Elementary School. The previous owner of the house, Mr. Mao-Lin Chen and his wife Mrs. Cui-Wu Chen-Wang used to teach tailoring classes at the house.
