Walking along the Waikato river, Hamilton city
We had one day visit to Hamilton city, which is only an one and a half hour drive from Auckland. We visited the Hamilton gardens, Waikato museum and the Hamilton lake domain. After visiting Waikato museum, we walked along Waikato river.
The information below is from Wikipedia
The Waikato River is the longest river in New Zealand, running for 425 kilometres through the North Island. It rises in the eastern slopes of Mount Ruapehu, joining the Tongariro River system and flowing through Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake.

Phillip had a two weeks school holiday in April, so we decided to revisit the Hamilton gardens in Hamilton city. It took one and a half hours to get there from Papakura.
Hamilton Gardens is the most visited tourist attraction in Waikato. It tells the Story of Gardens through themed gardens
April is the middle of Autumn in New Zealand. Because of this, many leaves have turned red and yellow. The trees in the Hamilton gardens looked very beautiful. The weather looked great and we had a great time over there.
The information below is from
Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens at Waikato's most visited tourist destination. The international award-winning Hamilton Gardens is unique; it tells the story of gardens.
Hamilton Gardens is not a botanical garden. Instead, its concept acknowledges there is a story to tell about gardens, their development over time and across cultures, and their use. The concept has been compared to a museum, where each garden collection has historic integrity and provides a window into the story of civilisations, their arts, beliefs and lifestyles

Hamilton Gardens New Zealand - A One of a Kind Place!!!

#3 I am here in Hamilton New Zealand checking out a place called the Hamilton Gardens. Before this was a garden is was the city's waste disposal site. Its truly incredible what they have done with the place!
This is an incredible place to see in person. I highly encourage you to stop in if you ever have the chance!
Hamilton Gardens is a public garden park in the south of Hamilton owned and managed by Hamilton City Council in New Zealand. The 54 hectare park is based on the banks of the Waikato River, and includes enclosed gardens, open lawns, a lake, a nursery, a convention centre and a cemetery. It is the Waikato Region's most popular visitor attraction, attracting more than 1 million people and hosting more than 2,000 events a year.
Hamilton Gardens is described in popular culture as a botanical garden, but does not technically qualify as a botanical garden. Instead, the site features 21 gardens representing the art, beliefs, lifestyles and traditions of different civilisations or historical garden styles. These gardens are grouped into the Paradise, Productive, Fantasy, Cultivar and Landscape garden collections, and there is space for gardens which are still in development. Most of the 54 hectare site is a park, which includes municipal nursery and the Hamilton East Cemetery.
The first development of gardens began in the early 1960s at what was then the city's waste disposal site. The first substantial development, the Rogers Rose Garden, was opened in 1971 in an attempt to block highway development over the site. Since 1982 many newly developed areas have been opened to the public. Additional features of the gardens now include a lake walkway and a waterfall outlook.

New Zealand - Hamilton - Travel Vlog - Day 1
Our travel vlog, first day in New Zealand. Spent a bit of time in Auckland then we drove down to Hamilton.
We didn't do much as the day was almost over. We landed, hired a car, ate a pie, drove to Hamilton. Sounds boring but the scenery was so picturesque. Got some really great footage of sunsets and rainbow.
Don't miss the next parts of the series as it does get better. We rode the Skyline Rotorua luge, ate a very expensive buffet at Stratosfare Rotorua, I ran around some random park, rented a private spa for only $20 at Waikite Valley, explored the huge Hamilton Garden, watched the Maori Haka, felt and smelled Pohutu geyser, explored the battlefield looking Craters of the moon, witnessed the power and beauty of the Huka Falls. She tried to be a monkey at the Auckland Zoo, saw a very rare animal and more, I just can't remember it all at the top of my head.
We really made the most of our short stay in New Zealand. Hoping you guys stick around and watch the rest of our New Zealand 2016 adventures. Hopefully you loved it so much that you Subscribed to our channel. Thank you, bye.
