Decan wildlife reserve in Djibouti
The wildlife sanctuary, DECAN (DECouvrir et Aider la Nature), was set up as a refuge for animals that have been orphaned or illegally caged for trafficking purposes. The refuge has been recently renovated and reopened this year with larger compounds for all the animals. The big cats (thankfully!) are housed behind fencing, but many of the herbivores such as ostriches, zebras, gazelles and oryx roam freely.⠀

At 155m below sea level, Lac Assal is the lowest point in Africa and the third lowest point in the world after the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee.
