Musical Fountain - Dayanta North Square - Xi'an
A place worth going to visit in Xi'an is the 'Musical Fountain' in front of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. A word of warning though, thieves / pickpockets are out in force in this area so leave any valuables at home. During my visit I was aware of many shady characters around the fountain area. I was going to film the fountain display however due to the paranoia I was feeling, I decided to walk away, maybe I was lucky not to have anything stolen, who knows. So please be careful.
Be aware this is a large crowded public space with no police around (when the action starts) and no CCTV : you have be warned.

China. officially the People's Republic of China, is a country in East Asia and the world's most populous country, with a population of around 1.404 billion. Covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers, it is the third- or fourth-largest country by total area.
Xi'an
Xi’an is a large city and capital of Shaanxi Province in central China. Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties' ruling houses. At archaeological sites in Xi’an’s surrounding plains are the famed Bingmayong (Terra Cotta Army), thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
Fortifications of Xi'an
The fortifications of Xi'an, also known as Xi'an City Wall, in Xi'an, an ancient capital of China, represent one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It was built under the rule of the Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang as a military defense system.
Bell Tower of Xi'an
The Bell Tower of Xi'an, built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty, is a symbol of the city of Xi'an and one of the grandest of its kind in China. The Bell Tower also contains several large bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty. The tower base is square and it covers an area of 1,377 m2 (14,820 sq ft). The tower is a brick and timber structure and close to 40 m (130 ft) high. It is located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of the four streets of the east, west, south and north. It is the largest and most preserved one amongst the many bell towers left over from ancient China.
Muslim Quarter, Xi'an
Just as its name implies, the Muslim Quarter, also known as Huimin Jie in Pingyin, is the hub of the Muslim community in Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. Located to the north of the West Street in the city center, the quarter covers several blocks inhabitated by over 20,000 Muslims. There are about ten mosques in the area of the Muslim Street, among which the Great Mosque in the Huajue Lane is the most famous and popular.
Giant Wild Goose Pagoda
As the symbol of the old-line Xi'an, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda (also called Big Wild Goose Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. It is located in the southern suburb of Xi'an City, about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the downtown of the city. Standing in the Da Ci'en Temple complex, it attracts numerous visitors for its fame in the Buddhist religion and its simple but appealing style of construction. Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is rated as a National Key Cultural Relic Preserve as well as an AAAA Tourist Attraction. In addition, it was added to the World Heritage List on June 22, 2014, together with other sites along the ancient Silk Road.

西安碑林博物馆位于三学街，南边紧靠着明代城墙，西边接着书院门古文化街。在西安这个现代的大都市里，偶尔能找到像这样一片优雅僻静的古典建筑群，勾起对往昔的回忆。
The Museum of stele forest in Xi'an is situated on Sanxue Street, and the southern side is next to the Ming Dynasty city wall. In this modern metropolis of Xi'an, occasionally a graceful and secluded classical architecture like this can be found, evoking memories from the past.
博物馆的前半部分原来是一座孔庙，最南端是一堵墙，叫做“照壁”，是1918年重建的。照壁的外侧用楷书刻着”孔庙”两个大字。西安孔庙最初是唐太宗的时代建成的，是中国历史最久的孔庙之一。
The first half of the museum turned out to be a Confucian Temple. The southern tip of the museum is a wall called Zhao Bi, which was rebuilt in 1918. The outside of the wall features the large text Confucian Temple embossed in Kai script. This Confucian Temple of Xi'an was first built in the era of the Taizong Emeperor of Tang, and is one of longest-lasting Confucian Temple in Chinese history.
博物馆的后半部分就是闻名天下的“西安碑林”，算得上是中国历史最久、数量最多、质量最高的碑林了。碑林的建造可以追溯到900年前的北宋。那时以来经历过多次整修，藏石的数量也不断增加，最终形成了今天西安市数一数二的历史文化景观。
The second half of the museum is known as the Xi'an stele forest, which is the oldest, largest and highest quality stele forest in China. Its construction can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty 900 years ago. Since then, there have been many renovations, and the number of collected steles has been increasing. Eventually, this historical and cultural landscape finally formed, and can be counted as one of the top [attractions] of Xi'an.

Fountain showing the birth from lotus flower of Buddha, It's a big Buddhist-themed park on a peninsula on the north side of Lake Tai west of Shanghai. Very very impressive, awesome scale. The Buddha statue in the background is huge - probably the size of Statue of Liberty.

It's possible to preserve the sites, but if we want to be able to develop or restore the sites, that needs experts and cadres and this is what the (Antiquities) Ministry lacks because our staff are new. Almost all of the old employees withdrew from the Ministry in 2006 and that led to hiring new employees who don't have enough experience; we can only rely on what they have studied at university.
