I moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduating college, and only after doing so was I able to see Dayton in a new perspective. I used this piece as an opportunity to further explore the city as well as become more familiar with timelapse and motion control.
Roughly 10,000 stills were taken between June and September 2014 to create this piece.

Yellow Bike Program In Downtown Dayton
Dayton, Ohio (May 6, 2011) ― A free bike sharing program soon will be available in downtown Dayton thanks to the Life Enrichment Center, a faith-based nonprofit organization serving Dayton. The center's new Yellow Bike program will provide brightly painted yellow bikes available free of charge for anyone to ride between downtown destinations. People simply grab a yellow bike, ride it to their destination and park it in a bike rack for the next person to use. The Yellow Bike program will be officially launched during the Friday, May 13, Urban Nights, held from 5 to 10 p.m. throughout downtown. Riders can pick up one of 50 yellow bikes at Courthouse Square or wherever they see one parked throughout downtown. The Life Enrichment Center is seeking donations of helmets in all sizes, which can be dropped off at Courthouse Square during Urban Nights or at the center, 425 N. Findlay St. The Yellow Bike program is part of a larger effort to enhance cycling culture in the City of Dayton, the only Ohio city to be selected as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists in its spring 2010 rankings. Dayton was awarded a bronze-level status for its efforts to help make the city more bicycle and pedestrian friendly through such efforts as the addition of bike lanes to downtown streets and the opening of the bike hub at RiverScape MetroPark. The Yellow Bike program also is supported by the City of Dayton's Bike/Walk Committee, which is overseeing the work of the City of Dayton 2025 Bicycle Action Plan. The Yellow Bike program is one of several at the Life Enrichment Center's new Bike Shoppe, renovated by volunteers and made possible by a grant from the UPS Foundation and private donations. The yellow bikes are refurbished by Life Enrichment Center clients, teaching them new skills while providing a service to the community. To help keep the bikes in the downtown area, the Life Enrichment Center has worked with the Dayton Police Department, scrap yards and pawn shops. Anyone who finds a yellow bike that needs repaired or is outside the downtown area is asked to call the Bike Shoppe at 937-252-7780 so it can be picked up, returned to the center, repaired if necessary and put back into circulation. All the yellow bikes also will have stickers with the center's phone number. Riders are reminded to always wear a helmet and obey traffic laws.

Welcome to thriving Downtown Dayton, Ohio
City of Dayton leaders brag about how great things are in Downtown Dayton, Ohio, but further investigation proves the contrary. This was taken around lunch time and businesses were slow and barely had any lunch customers.
Yet the city leaders keep telling us that businesses want to come to Downtown Dayton and that there is a market for more condos and lofts downtown to attract the Yuppies and this goes to show you, they will not get the Yuppies, they will only get more Section 8 housing if they build more and people who are not working and are retired and will contribute nothing

Stark County Court House
115 Central Plaza North, Canton, OH, 44702
The Stark County Courthouse is a beautiful structure built in the architectural style known as Beaux Arts Classicism. Completed in 1895, it is the third courthouse to occupy this site. The first, a Federal style structure erected in 1817-1818, was replaced by a larger Italianate structure in 1868-1870, with a separate Annex. However, within two decades, this second courthouse had been outgrown. County Commissioners were reluctant to undertake the cost of a new structure during the depression years of the 1890's. Accordingly, Architect George Hammond from Cleveland, Ohio was commissioned to revise and expand the existing structure. Hammond's remodeling actually called for the construction of a whole new, larger building around the body of the existing structure. Hammond's plan focuses on the imposing bell and clock tower, crowned by four courthouse angels, the Trumpeters of Justice once visible for some distance along most approaches to the city.
The courthouse is divided into four stories, with the first story using the Roman arch as its motif, the largest of these being the three entrance archways over the south porch entrance. The second story is subdivided into two sections: the upper section uses the oculus or round window set in ornamented squares; the lower sections uses a narrow Roman arch window. The upper story has square-headed Roman-style windows. Between the windows are rectangular panels ornamented with a lattice pattern in stone. The cornice is adorned with overlapping disks and a running ivy festoon.
The building has two porticos; an elaborate pedimented design on the Tuscarawas Street side, and a simple, single story portico facing Market Avenue. The Market Avenue portico is supported by four Tuscan columns with Doric capitals crowned by a balustrade. The Tuscarawas Street facade is of the greatest architectural interest. It is a Beaux Arts fantasy composed of triple Roman arches on the first floor, above which rise paired, unfluted columns with large Ionic capitals. Above this is the traditional stepped architrave and, above that is an undecorated frieze. The carving in the triangular pediment is a magnificent presentation in carved sandstone, the symbolism of which is derived partially from the rural commerce of the county itself and partially from ancient Greece. The four central female figures robed in the Greek peplum are allegorical representations of Commerce, Justice, Agriculture and Industry.
Although placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, over the decades the courthouse had suffered from lack of proper maintenance and alterations of its original appearance. For example, the columns of the south porch had been filled in with masonry to provide additional room. This and other changes had seriously affected its appearance and its overall condition had deteriorated. However, in 1992 a major renovation at a cost of $11 million dollars was undertaken through a combination of funding provided by the County Commissioners and local private foundations, including the Deuble, Hoover, Timken and Stark Community Foundations. The project, completed in 1995, included many improvements and returned the building to its original appearance from its construction one-hundred years earlier. A formal rededication of the Stark County Courthouse was held on September 16, 1995.

USA - KKK/Black Panther rally
T/I: 10:20:13
Small contingents from the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan organisation and black militants faced off on Saturday (27/06) in this small Texas town, site of a gruesome racially motivated murder. The Klan called the gathering to dissociate itself from the June 7 killing of a black man, James Byrd, who was dragged to his death behind a pickup truck. Three young white men are accused of carrying out the hideous crime. Sixteen Klan followers, dressed in their white robes and peaked hats, and a dozen supporters faced a crowd of some 60 blacks and whites from Jasper and other East Texas communities. Many of the anti-Klan protesters were members of the New Black Panthers and Black Moslem Movement. Armed with rifles and shotguns, the Panthers and Moslems marched a few blocks away from the Klan rally. Police did not let them near the courthouse square where the Klan was gathered. Police arrested two demonstrators as several people lunged at the Klansmen and threw ice cubes as they left in a convoy of pickup trucks. Several Movement members rushed a cordon of state troopers in riot gear that surrounded the Klansmen, but were pushed back. All Klan speakers denounced Byrd's murder, which they called unnecessary. They insisted that it was wrong to blame the
killing on white supremacists.
