Demille's Farm Market
DeMille's Farm Market is a third generation family farm. With roots in California farming (both vegetable and dairy) the family moved to the Salmon Arm valley in 1970. In Salmon Arm, Rodger DeMille discovered an oasis filled with the promise of nature's bounty. A humble beginning included 10 rows of sweet corn, a roadside stand and an illegal sign - it was a hit! Year two saw expansion into 20 rows of corn, and a small variety of vegetables...the rest is history. demillesfarmmarket.com

Pumpkin Cannon at Demilles Market In Salmon Arm
Headed over to the Demilles Market in Salmon Arm last weekend for some Pumpkin Cannon fun! This thing is huge and fires the pumpkins at least 600-1000 feet in the air and a good 700-800 yards down range. So much fun! Thanks to Demilles for having such a great fun day, and hosting this Charity Day for the local Salvation Army!

Driving on Trans-Canada Highway through the Rocky Mountains Part 4 (Salmon Arm)
Driving on amazingly scenic Highway 1 west from Reevlstoke through Salmon Arm, British Columbia.
After Salmon Arm, Highway 1 goes east for 31 km (19 mi) to a junction with Highway 97A at Sicamous, following the south shore of the Salmon Arm of the Shuswap Lakes for most of this stretch. Over the next 71 km (44 mi) east, Highway 1 winds through the communities of Malakwa (the highway widens to four lanes as it passes through Malakwa), Craigellachie and the Three Valley Gap, before reaching its junction with Highway 23 at Revelstoke, on the Columbia River. The next 148 km (92 mi) of Highway 1 to Golden winds east through Mount Revelstoke National Park and Glacier National Park, where the Rogers Pass area is located. There are eight snow sheds on Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Golden—three of them lie west of Rogers Pass, while five lie to the east. Motorists are advised to check their fuel level as they are leaving either Revelstoke or Golden as there are no refuelling facilities between the two towns.

Haney Heritage Village
Step back in time with a visit to the R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum. See Salmon Arm as it might have looked a century ago. Stroll through lovingly-restored buildings -- including a church, school, firehall and family homestead -- in a beautiful natural setting. And there's dinner theatre, too -- Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights thru July and August.
The RJ Haney Heritage Village & Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday -- 10-till-5. Check our web site at salmonarmmuseum.org for special events or phone 250 - 832 - 5243 for free village tours. Also check out or or for more information.
