The full depth of the cave was reached by Jim King in 1992.
In April 2010, William Trubridge broke a free-diving world record in the blue hole reaching a depth of 92 metres (302 ft) without the use of fins (Constant Weight Without Fins). On December 14, 2010, he swam to a depth of 100 m on a single breath using only his hands and feet for propulsion, while many divers use weights to quicken their descent or inflatable bags to bring them to the surface quickly.

One of the best spots in the world to dive and swim, it is also a marvelous sight in itself. Beaches around the blue hole are also clear and excellent spots to tan in the sun

We freedive the deepest blue in the Bahamas // SailOceans
The Earth in the Bahamas really is flat. The depths are very shallow and the islands don't reach more than few meters above sea level. Imagine a 202 meter deep sink hole just few meters of the beach. It being in the water makes it actually a blue hole.
Dean's Blue Hole is where a lot of freediving World Championships have taken place. As our luck has it we not only got to dive it, but we also met one of the former freediving world record holders practicing. His result is 3 minutes and 10 seconds without breath while reaching the depth of 110 meters and returning to the surface. Wow!
There is a permanent platform fixed in the middle of the deepest circle with a 202 meter long line strung to the very bottom of the hole.
Bartek dove to about 20 meters. It is just a circle of light above the total dark and quite void. It's magic. Enjoy.

Adventures of Ania and Bartek with two little kids sailing across oceans on a 15 meter trimaran as a way of promoting alternative way of life off the grid.
In 2014 we managed to materialize our dreams and traded a land based home in Poland for a permanent life on the ocean aboard our dearest new home - sailboat Poly.
For us sailing is a way of free life in sync and harmony with nature and each other. It's a way of experiencing life, people, and places, entirely on our own terms. For many years it was just a dream, but we followed it and it came true. We are here and now, no longer chasing the dream. We'd like to share it with you so that you can follow your dreams, too.
Follow us to see all the amazing, interesting, crazy, scary, and funny people, places and situations that we experience and learn from. Welcome to our family life unplugged.

Exploring Deans Hole
During the Long Island Regatta we decided to take an afternoon off to drive down to Clarence Town and see the famous Deans Blue Hole. We've always wanted to see it in person and now we finally have. It was amazing! You can walk from the sandy beach into the water and directly over the dropoff of the hole.
There were memorials all around from people that have lost their lives while swimming here, a reminder of how ruthless nature can be sometimes.
The cliffs that surround the hole are the prefect height for jumping and we all took turns leaping into the deep water. Even the 6 year old Hagen jumped a few times! If you are ever in long Island you HAVE to take a visit here!
Blue Hole Beach, Long Island Bahamas
It just might be the ultimate Caribbean beach. It's got pink sand, no crowds and its own spectacular blue hole right off the coast. It's a bucket-list beach, and a must-visit for any lover of the Caribbean.

Deans Blue Hole is 663 ft. deep,breath-taking ,beautiful turquoise blue water and white powder sand.
Every house had a goat or several, they would run right out in front of us.
Freediving south of Clarence Town: speedboat too close
You can hear the prop sound as soon as I hit the ocean floor. It was too late to do anything then so I just hung out. In this case though we did not have a signal buoy. More fool us. We were dumb: ALWAYS USE A MARKER FLOAT AND FLAG in open water
