Marlin while scuba diving in El Quseir Egypt 2017
On the 27th of July 2017 my wife and I where scuba diving at the house reef of Extra Divers in El Quseir, Egypt. At first we were in a group of about 20 Dolphins. As they left we continued our dive through the shallow surface water of El Quadim. When suddenly this massive 3m long Marlin showed up and swam calmly at first next to me and than off into the blue. I think at some point in the video one can hear my excitement ;) We both are very happy to have seen this wonderful creature so close and even more so - that we got this moment on camera!
Enjoy...

The Elphinstone-
Reef is also famous for being one of the few places on Earth where you can dive with the Oceanic Whitetip Shark as well as Harmmerhead Sharks. The best chances to spot an Oceanic Whitetip Shark (Longimanus) are from October to December. Manta Rays (mainly from May to August), Dolphins and Tiger Sharks can also sometimes be spotted. In addition to these giants, there are also plenty of pelagic fishes like trevallies, Barracudas and Tunas.

The Salem Express-
was a passenger ship that sank in the Red Sea. It is controversial due to the tragic loss of life which occurred when she sank shortly after midnight on December 16, 1991. Coordinates: 26°38′22.02″N 34°3′39.9″E
The Salem Express was a roll on, roll off car & passenger ferry that operated between the ports of Safaga (in Egypt) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). On one such return journey from Jeddah, she sank after colliding with Hyndman Reef in the early hours of 16 December 1991. The impact with the reef both holed the bows and caused the bow visor to be forced open. She very quickly took on water and sank, on her starboard side within minutes. Loss of life was considerable, with the official figure being quoted as 470. Rumour suggests that there were many more on board, however this is debatable as official records list the number of passengers and crew as 690.
Many bodies were recovered after the sinking, but eventually a halt was called due to the danger involved and the wreck was sealed with plates welded across openings.
Dives, as of April 2013, revealed that the wreck is in good shape and coral covers much of the ship. Divers can peer into windows and can easily enter the ship from many points. Reports of plates being welded over access points could not be verified. Additionally, while the bow of the ship is crumpled and bent, there are no signs of cracking, at least on the port side. The bow visor is clearly open by about 12-16 inches at the base, closest to the waterline. The sea floor, 29 meters deep, is littered with debris. Notably, two ridged life boats rest between the smoke stacks and the stern. At the stern of the ship, divers can enter the large car door. The wreck still contains cars and luggage, a haunting reminder of the lives lost.

Hamburg- Marsa Alam (Süd Ägypten )
In 2018 we took a GoPro HERO5 travelling through Egypt on an amazing 9 Days adventure.
The trip was filmed entirely on the GoPro Hero 5.
As you can see the Gopro HERO5 produces some great quality video.
I decided to shoot at 2.7K and 30fps and for diving 60fps
(so that i could slow the footage down slightly to reduce shakiness)
I Edited the movie on IMove & Lightroom.

DAMSL: Egypt's Underwater Beauties
Underwater photographer Myron Wang exposes Egypt's spectacular reef fish, like a beautiful Lionfish and Yellowspot Angelfish, which locals call the blue angel with a map of South Africa. Wang uses special lighting to get this glow-in-the-dark Indian Sailfin Tang and deftly captures the bushy tail of a Broomtail Wrasse, the beards on the Golden Saddle Goatfish and blue mask on a Masked Butterfly Fish. The Orange-lined Triggerfish and Emperor Angelfish are more snapshots of the region's beauty. For more, visit: DAMSL.org

Swimming with billfish in the open ocean is as good as it gets!
Rare footage of Stargazer fish swimming off after being unveiled, and re-burying itself again!!
This footage was taken on a night dive at Abu Sauatir, the house reef at Roots Red Sea close to El Quseir, Egypt.
Having dived these waters many times I have often seen Stargazer fish on night dives, but never have I seen one leave the sea floor after being unearthed and swimming off.
They normally just keep re-burying themselves deeper and deeper.
I asked around and no one had seen this take place so feel quite proud to have caught this on video.
Pretty cool right?!
