Record High Water on Lake Ontario - Aerial View of Lakeview Game Managment Area
We start our journey on a very clear July day (2019) following a family of 3 kayakers as they head from the NYS Boat Access at South Colwel Pond to the channel to Lake Ontario. In past years this channel to Lake Ontario closes off with low water in August but the record high water in 2019 now provides an easy access to Lake Ontario without having to portage across a sand barrier. We head north to the channel where the Lower Branch of the Sandy Creek reaches Lake Ontario at Floodwood Pond and Goose Pond. We turn around and head back south to South Colwel Pond and see the 3 kayakers returning to the NYS Boat Access off of Montario Point Road. Note Sandy Pond in the distance as the drone heads south towards Montario Point. The sand ridge along the shoreline from the high water doesn't appear very high but in some places exceeds 15-20 feet. If you haven't kayaked in this region you are missing one of the finest beaches on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. Granted, there is little beach this year but it is still a beautiful and easy access to Lake Ontario. An alternative, although a longer journey to Lake Ontario, is to use the access at the Lower Branch of the Sandy Creek just off of Route 3 in the Town of Mannsville. This is a historic battle location during the war of 1812. Note: this was a new drone and I hadn't gotten the settings down pat and it often was a little jerky in motion - my apologies.

Perrin Beatty, President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce was the keynote speaker at the recent Presidents Dinner. Held on January 27, 2011 at Deer Creek Golf & Country Club Mr. Beatty spoke at lenght of the value of the chamber movement and the economic impact of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade on its local community. The dinner is an annual event to swear in the new president of the board of trade as well as the directors of the council of the board of trade.
