Delaware Theatre Company 09 10 season1
Delaware Theatre Company is the states premier non-profit theatre.
For over 30 years, DTC has been producing diverse plays featuring
professional actors and artists from Broadway and regional theatres
across the country.
The 31st season is under way.
The theatre will heat up with the seasons opener, Fire On The Bayou,
running from October 14th thru November 1st. This musical extravaganza
marks the DTC return of Writer and Director Kevin Ramsey.
Fire On The Bayou delves into the Jazz history of Kevin's hometown,
New Orleans, as told by the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
Its a celebration of the musical style that defines Louisiana,
and the spirit of its people.
On November 7th, you can experience the best of Broadway
and London's West End right here in Wilmington
as Stage by Stage: A Broadway Cabaret comes to Delaware Theatre Company
for a one-night only performance to benefit the Kookaburra Foundation. International stars Simon Gleeson and Natalie O'Donnell sing a compilation
of musicals you know and maybe some you don't know,
along with some new music by Grant Olding, one of the
hottest young musical composers in the United Kingdom today.
From December 1st to 20th, It's A Wonderful Life, the classic Frank Capra film,
is re-told in the format of a 1940s radio show, complete with
man-made sound effects, old-style commercials and live music.
An ensemble of performers bring the characters of this beloved
holiday favorite to life, and remind us why every life has an impact on its community. Great fun for the whole family, this timely play
is a wonderful holiday treat, which celebrates a wonderful life.
In a co-production with Round House Theatre, DTC presents
My Name is Asher Lev from February 10th 28th, 201.
Exploring questions of art, family, religion and loyalty, this adaptation
of Chaim Potok's novel is a powerful coming-of-age story. Asher Lev, born into a Hasidic Jewish family, tries to balance his artistic genius with the demands of his family. A poignant and elegant drama.
Continuing its Community Series, DTC and The Wilmington Voices Project present 10 MONTHS, from March 17 thru April 4th.
This original work was conceived and directed by Anne Marie Cammarato
and asks, How does our city define itself?
What can happen to a community in ten months' time?
Through interviews, video and live actors, DTC will explore ten months
in the life of Wilmington, both in the past and present.
Audiences will follow stories of their neighbors, community leaders —
and sometimes those of forgotten voices — through ten-month time periods
in Wilmington's early history, the occupation by the National Guard in 1968,
and in present-day Wilmington.
The Delaware Theater Company will close the season on a lighter note with
The Foocy, onstage from April 28th to May 16th.
A hideous witch travels the Russian countryside and lands in the
village of Vrinsk, where the citizens devise a number of ways to appease her.
This funny folktale of good versus evil from DTC favorites
Anthony Lawton, Matt Pfeiffer and Aaron Cromie
features puppets, masks and music.
The Delaware Theater Company and Box Office
are on the Wilmington Riverfront at 200 Water Street.
You can buy tickets there or by calling 302.594.1100, Monday Friday
from 10am - 4pm. You can also order tickets online anytime by going to delawaretheatre.org.
Delaware Theatre Company: Ingleside Playwriting Residency

Delaware Theatre Company's education department, led by Director of Education and Community Engagement Charles Conway, has been conducting a playwriting residency at Ingleside Retirement Apartments in Wilmington. In an effort to promote productive aging, and based on the successful structure of DTC's own Delaware Young Playwrights Festival, Conway met with the residents to write, edit and perform original short plays.

This drama by Barrymore Award-winning playwright Bruce Graham, and directed by Executive Director Bud Martin, runs from Wednesday, October 10 through Sunday, October 28 at DTC before a six-week run in New York City.
