Diving with Delphis Diving Centers Royal Island Maldives The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered sea turtle belonging to the family Cheloniidae. The hawksbill's appearance is similar to that of other marine turtles. It has a generally flattened body shape, a protective carapace, and flipper-like arms, adapted for swimming in the open ocean. This turtle is easily distinguished from other sea turtles by its sharp, curving beak with prominent tomium, and the saw-like appearance of its shell margins. Hawksbill shells slightly change colors, depending on water temperature. While this turtle lives part of its life in the open ocean, it spends more time in shallow lagoons and coral reefs.
Human fishing practices threaten the hawksbill populations with extinction. The World Conservation Union classifies the hawksbill as critically endangered. Hawksbill shells were the primary source of tortoiseshell material used for decorative purposes. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species outlaws the capture and trade of hawksbill sea turtles and products derived from them.

Maldives, A Diving Paradise - Now in High Quality! (Part 5/5)
The Maldives Islands are synonymous with diving. His whimsical geography consists of over 1,200 small coral islands; not all are surveyed and some emerge or disappear with seismic movements of the sea. The Maldives offer professional diver and tourist who dives for the first time a changing paradise. Coexistence between the Indian and Maldives is so close, that it is easy to forget where the sea ends and the coast begins. Grouped into 25 atolls, only 200 islands are inhabited of which 65 are exclusively devoted to tourism.

Visiting Royal Island Resort Maldives in June
We spent a week in the wet season of the Maldives in June, 2015. We had plenty of sunshine and hot weather during our stay. There were rains two times and during the night. The resort is marvelous - one may dive, snorkel or deal with other water activities. The videos are shot with the help of a waterproof Olympus TG-3 camera.
