New Jersey's last Drive-In theater is a nostalgic blast from the past
The Delsea Theater is the only operational drive-in movie theater in New Jersey. It was built in 1949 but the theater went dark in 1987. It was in 2004 when owners John and Jude Deleonardis took over and resurrected the property. Today it features 2 screens that play first-run films. Cumberland Mall in Vineland, NJ - Raw & Real Retail
This is our walkthrough of the Cumberland Mall in Vineland, NJ from December 18, 2018. This is not a dead mall, but not a terribly lively mall either. It seems to be just chugging along with a mix of middling discount stores and a single proper department store, Boscov's. It's location probably accounts for its modest success, being a good drive from most other big successful malls in southern New Jersey. It's an hour drive to the north to get to the much fancier Deptford Mall and a 40 minute drive to the east to get to the fairly middle-of-the-road Hamilton Mall.
Songs used in this video (in order):
Alberto Baldan Bembo - Metropolis
Remigio Ducros - La Rimonta
Lalo Schifrin - Con Alma
Here is a brief history from Wikipedia:
Cumberland Mall is a shopping mall located in Vineland, New Jersey, on Route 47 (Delsea Drive) at Route 55 (exit 27).
Cumberland Mall is strategically positioned 25 miles (40 km) away from its nearest competitor, 45 miles (72 km) south of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and on route to the Southern New Jersey Shore Points. Its anchor stores are Boscov's, Burlington Coat Factory, and Dick's Sporting Goods occupying the former JCPenney. Other tenants in the mall include Marshalls, Michael's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ulta, and Old Navy.
The mall was built in 1973 by Rubin Organization. Its original anchor stores were Bradlees, Gaudio's, Pathmark, and Wilmington Dry Goods. Gaudio's became JCPenney, Pathmark became Toys R Us, and Wilmington Dry Goods became Value City and is now Burlington Coat Factory. Despite the addition of these anchor stores, the mall's occupancy declined in the 1990s. A mall-wide renovation at the end of the decade added Boscov's and expanded JCPenney while reconfiguring the main mall concourse. The former Bradlees was subdivided, and The Home Depot and Regal Cinemas were added on outparcels.
After Value City went out of business in 2009, its space became Burlington Coat Factory. Ulta was added in 2013. In January 2015, it was announced the JCPenney store was closing as part of a plan to close 39 underperforming stores nationwide. In 2018 it was announced that the Bed Bath and Beyond store which had been a tenant at the mall since 2002 was going to close due to leasing issues.

REUPLOAD - Pensauken Drive In Ruins and The Former Site of the Pennsauken Mart
I previously uploaded this video intact and I know the entire video was there but somwhow YouTube cut off the entire end of the video featuring all of the Mart footage. Here it is again in its entirety. Hopefully Youtube won't cut it off again.
This video was shot yesterday June 30, 2014. As I mentioned previously that I would, I visited the abandoned Pennsauken drive-in as well as the former site of the Pennsauken Mart. I couldn't find any reliable dates of operation for the Pennsauken drive-in. Some articles state that it was opened in the late 1940s to early 1950s, but I do not believe that is the case. The theater features a single widescreen. However any movie theater or drive-in theater built prior to 1953 would not have had a widescreen as widescreen was only introduced in 1953 and even at that time it was not very common. This is why televisions originally had a 4.3 aspect ratio screen, so that movies could be shown on television. Widescreen was only introduced after television became popular and the movies needed a way to compete with it. Also this drive-in does not appear on any list of commercially operating drive-ins prior to 1967. So I can only assume this theater was opened sometime after 1967 and operated through the mid to late 80s.
The Pennsauken Mart was opened in 1955 and operated until 2006 when it was systematically forced out of business by Camden County. The county was offered a $24 million grant by the casino reinvestment development authority. They had originally planned to open a minor-league ice hockey team and arena. But those plans quickly fell through. Camden County then scaled back its plans for the site. They even put up a sign on the site announcing a new condominium complex and shopping center. That was in 2006 and nothing has been done with the site since. Many of the merchants at the Mart, including several that had been in business for well over 40 years, were forcibly put out of business or forced to move. Many of them have relocated to Willingboro 7 miles down Route 130 or moved to other stores in the area. And yet the Mart, which was commercially successful, was torn down and the lot now sits undeveloped and empty as it has for the last 8 years. This is just another example of a classic old place destroyed by a greedy County. And the worst part is they haven't done a damn thing with the property, so basically the Mart was destroyed for no good reason. Just another example of how government pockets are bigger than their brains. In the end they ended up losing money as the grant is no longer available, and a commercially successful shopping center that brought a lot of business to Pennsauken is now gone forever.

Drive In Theater Movie Review
Tuesday night, my husband and I were able to live a bit of summer nostalgia by going to the drive-in theater. The Getty 4 Drive-In Theater is right here in our own town, and is one of only 10 drive-in theaters left in Michigan.
The Getty 4 Drive-In Theater has a long history in Muskegon. I am sure many couples in the area fondly remember the drive-in as a part of their courtship.
It was built in 1948 with the name NK Drive-In and had just one screen. In 1966 it was purchased by Jack Loeks Theaters and the name was changed to the Getty Drive-In. In 1978, 3 additional screens were added making the Getty 4 Drive-In Theater one of the largest outdoor theaters in the United States!
Well, on our trip the other night, we saw the movie 'We're Millers'. You can hear my thoughts on the movie in the video. Have you seen the movie? If so, what did you think?
Opinions about movies are as varied as the people who watch them and very seldom do I agree with the professional critics. I usually don't base my decision on whether to see the movie based on the professional's advice.
Once I made the decision that it was my goal to take advantage of the opportunity to make money working from the comfort of my own home, I have no regrets. I actually earn an income while I talk about my trip to the drive-in theater or give my opinion on a topic or....whatever I choose!
Does this sound better than what you are doing currently?
Do you want to make money, save time, save effort, increase your happiness and eliminate pain?
If so, Click this link and I will show you what I am doing and how I can help you.
I want you to also check out our income disclaimer statement so you have all the information. After you check us out, I am confident you will join me to lock arms and reach for YOUR goals.
Or perhaps you are already doing what you love. If so, kudos to you as you are very blessed. I can help you, also, by providing you a way to do what you love even better! I can show you how to promote it to the masses. One example is through our viral blogging system!
Don't let this time go by without checking this out to see what we are all about. You want to make an informed decision.
So click here and check this out. Don't look back with regret!
I am here to lock arms with you and help guide you to success!
