格林诺奇村（Glenorchy）位于瓦卡蒂普湖(Lake Wakatipu)北岸，被人们称为“魔戒小镇”。 格兰诺奇之所以出名是因为大量的电影在这里取景，《指环王》三部曲在这里的外景取景最多，影片中的洛丝萝林（Lothlorien）、阿蒙汉山脉（Amon Hen）、欧散克塔（Orthanc）和伊森加德（Isengard）都是在此取景拍摄。《霍比特人》、《金刚狼》、《纳尼亚传奇》、《垂直极限》也有大量镜头在这里拍摄。
从皇后镇（Queenstown）到格兰诺奇去拍摄日出，需要饿着肚子开50公里摇摇晃晃的山路，很多人说没有到过皇后镇，就不算到过新西兰，更有人说没有去过格兰诺奇，就不算到过皇后镇。
在格兰诺奇能感受到一种天堂般纯净的世外桃源，其实在格兰诺奇往下几十公里真的有个小镇就叫做天堂镇（Paradise），日出前的冷风清新又自在，站在栈桥上呼吸一口新鲜的空气，继续拍照。
格兰诺奇最出名的拍摄点就是这个小栈桥和一排生长在水里的树，最好的拍摄季节是深秋和初冬，水面有晨雾蒸腾，雪山顶被日出光线打亮的时候，所以我这个片子肯定不属于最好的，没有晨雾，没有日照金山，不过有栈桥，有没有关的路灯，有雪山，有瓦卡蒂普湖，有一点点的红云也算对得起早上的艰辛了。

In our opinion, most part of the road is ok for a 2WD, but there were some brooks or ditches with water which made it dangerous for 2WD. To be safe, we believe 4WD is the way to explore this amazing road.
