Future Sydney - Quay Quarter Tower by 3XN
3XN Sydney was founded in 2017. As a Danish company working internationally, 3XN has strong Scandinavian roots and humanistic values impact the way the studio thinks and create design and architecture. We believe that architecture shapes behaviour and are dedicated to creating a cohesive fusion of design, function and context in our buildings that will enrich people’s lives and inspire them to live, learn and work together.
In 2014, 3XN won the design competition to construct Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney, Australia. Besides being 3XN’s first project in Australia, Quay Quarter Tower will be the first major project since Jørn Utzon finished the Sydney Opera House in 1973 that a Danish architect has been awarded in the Australian city.
Following an international competition in 2017, 3XN was appointed to lead design of the new Sydney Fish Market. Our vision of The Sydney Fish Market is to create one of the city’s future landmarks, and to gather both locals and tourists in an inspiring environment, where the architecture does not disturb the current cityscape, but complements it instead.

Future Sydney - New Urban Fish Market by 3XN
Danish office 3XN has unveiled finalized designs for their Sydney Fish Market project after announcing their attachment to the project last June. The scheme, which is expected to begin construction in 2019, combines the traditional working market program with contemporary features and is intended to establish a strong public connection to the waterfront at Blackwattle Bay.
3XN's design is a contemporary take on the market archetype; the large, semi-open space is populated by rows of vendor stalls. Maintaining this free and human-scaled atmosphere was a primary focus of the design. The undulating roof form preserves both the essence of this typology and creates a modern icon for the waterfront.
While markets are traditionally known as open spaces, fish markets are often closed from the public, due to health risks posed by the machinery and processes. Rather than following this module, however, 3XN's design provides a strong visual connection to the interior functions, allowing the public indirect participation in the building's program.
A large tribune connects the ground level plaza to the public market, allowing visitors to dip into the structure while traversing the new public waterfront route. It also serves as seating and a gathering space and is intended to play host to various public events. Public squares at each end of the market also provide additional space for gathering and recreation and will be planted with wetland flora to filter storm and greywater from the building.

LARGEST FISH FACTORY VESSEL IN THE WORLD ARRESTED AND SEIZED
Agents from the Peruvian Environmental Prosecutor’s Office boarded the Damanzaihao on the night of May 30th, 2018, as part of an federal criminal investigation based on presumed acts of illegal fishing. Acting on a formal request filed by the Ministry of Environment, the Environmental Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the vessel detained pending further investigation.
The new criminal case is predicated on the same acts of illegal fishing – proven beyond all dispute – that led to the imposition of a multi-million dollar administrative fine in 2016. In addition, Peruvian authorities have also accused the Damanzaihao of polluting the marine environment through the illegal discharge of fluids and effluents while anchored in Chimbote.
Over the past week, the Damanzaihao has twice requested permission to leave port in an obvious attempt to escape the tightening noose. On April 20, 2018, Sea Shepherd delivered a formal letter to the Peruvian Ministry of Production (the agency that issued the multi-million dollar fine) imploring the government to take additional steps to ensure the ship pay for its crimes.
The Damanzaihao is the largest fish factory vessel in the world, capable of processing 547,000 tons of fish per year.
Sea Shepherd Vessel M/V John Paul DeJoria was recently in Peruvian waters, investigating and gathering intelligence to assist the Peruvian Government in its fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (“IUU”) Fishing.

Australian national maritime museum
Day out at the Australian national maritime museum and filmed some of the things we saw.
Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects Design Floating | Cloud Pavilion | on Shanghai's Waterfront | HD
The success of a temporary pavilion has seen Danish architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen (SHL) commissioned to realise a more permanent version of their original design. Situated on the HuangPu riverside in the West Bund district of Shanghai, the new arts and events space - dubbed the Cloud Pavilion - has been designed to appear as if it is floating along the waterfront. Comprised of two white surfaces and 20, 000 pieces of white rope, the pavilion has a sense of weightlessness and ephemerality which contrasts to the heavy industrial machinery nearby.
In 2013, SHL created a series of pavilions for the West Bund Biennale of Art and Architecture which were initially designed to remain for the two-month duration of the Biennale. The success of the projects extended their stay to two years, at which point a more permanent pavilion was commissioned. The original concept centered around the cloud, and it was requested that this theme be brought forward into the new building.

Van Life | Visiting the War Museum in Albany, Australia
This was definately a place to remember as far as history goes and just an all around amazing town. Such a cool small town with tons of history of WW1 and WW2. There was so much history involved here with allied forces fighting germany and soviet forces. You must visit here if you are a history nerd like myself.
