It is right next to Seoul city hall, so easy to come through and walk around.
There are five palaces in Seoul, and Deoksugung is my favortie.
It was the main palace during the late Joseon Dynasty, and it kept all the sad and tragic historical moments.
This palace is very unique feature that traditional palace and modern building is in the same place.
You would feel that you are in nature even though 8-way road is passing by right next to this palace.

Deoksugung Palace Self-Guided Tour-Seoul, South Korea (With Historical Facts)
Deoksugung Palace is one of the Five Grand Palaces in Seoul, South Korea and is located not far from Seoul City Hall. It was inhabited by several Korean royalties until the turn of the 20th Century. It was the main palace of the Great Han Empire (1897-1910). The palace was heavily destroyed by the Japanese during the colonial period of Korea and only about one-third of the structures that were standing before the occupation remain today.

Changing of the Royal Guard-Deoksugung Palace-Seoul, South Korea (With Historical Facts)
Deoksugung Palace is one of the Five Grand Palaces in Seoul, South Korea. It has held a reenactment of the guard-changing ceremony since 1996 after consulting historical research. During the Joseon Dynasty, the royal guards were responsible for guarding the king at his primary royal residence.

Korean Palace - Deoksugung Palace 덕수궁 [Seoul]
Located at the corner of Seoul's busiest downtown intersection, Deoksugung Palace is famous for its elegant stone-wall road. It is also the only palace that sits alongside a series of western style buildings that add to the uniqueness of the surrounding scenery. Deoksugung Palace originally belonged to Wolsandaegun (1454~1488), the older brother of King Seongjong (1469~1494) of the Joseon Dynasty. It became a proper palace when Gwanghaegun (1575~1641) ascended the throne and gave the palace the name Gyeongungung in 1611. Afterwards, the name was then changed back to its orginal title of Deoksugung.

Located at the corner of Seoul's busiest downtown intersection, Deoksugung Palace is famous for its elegant stone-wall road. It is also the only palace that sits alongside a series of Western style buildings that add to the uniqueness of the surrounding scenery. Deoksugung Palace originally belonged to Grand Prince Wolsan (1454-1488), the older brother of King Seongjong (1469-1494) of the Joseon dynasty. It became a proper palace when Gwanghaegun (1575-1641) ascended to the throne and gave this royal residence the name Gyeongungung Palace in 1611. Over the following decades, the palace alternated between being an official palace and a temporary residence. The name did not official change to Deoksugung Palace, meaning the “palace of virtuous longevity,” until 1907. While the palace incompassed a vast area with many buildings, the current palace grounds are just a small shadow of the prior splendor, with very few structures remaining.
Upon entering Deoksugung Palace through Daehanmun Gate, visitors will cross the wide bridge of Geumcheon Stream. The king's carriage would pass over this bridge during ancient times. The legal building Junghwajeon Hall is very stately, revealing its long history. Jeukjodang Building received its name from Gwanghaegun and In-Jo, who both ascended to the throne here. The nameplate on Jeukjodang was written personally by Gojong (26th king of the Joseon dynasty, r. 1863-1907) in 1905 after he became king. Hamnyeongjeon Hall was where Gojong slept, named with the meaning of wishing for lasting peace for Gojong. The east wing served as the king’s room, and the west wing was for the queen.
Jeonggwanheon Hall was the first Western-style building built in the palace, completed in 1900. Gojong enjoyed drinking coffee and spending his free time here. The back of the building had secret passageways to the Russian Emissary, which still exist today. Seokjojeon Hall is the other Western-style building that still remains in Deoksugung Palace, and it was in the process of being built by a British man for his company, when in 1905 the property rights were transferred to Japan. It was finally completed in 1910. After Gojong’s death, Seokjojeon Hall became a Japanese art gallery open to the public. After the Korean Declaration of Independence, the American-Russian joint commission was held here as well in May 1946. The east wing of Seokjogwan Hall now serves as a palace treasure exhibition, and the west wing is used as part of the National Modern Art Center.
Junghwajeon Hall was the center of politics during the Korean Empire and served as the backdrop to critical discussions on national affairs among the country’s leaders. The elaborateness of the hall’s interior is said to reflect the confidence of King Gojong in his ability to effectively lead the country into the 20th century. One of the most striking parts of the building is the pair of dragons that decorates the canopy above the throne of the king. These dragons can also be seen on the ceiling of Junghwajeon Hall and were representative designs of Deoksugung Palace, the imperial palace at that time. Though Junghwajeon Hall was originally built in 1902 as a multi-roofed building, it was redesigned as a single-roofed building in 1906 after it caught on fire two years before that.

Anyways, on this day we went to Deoksugung Palace since it was one of the few palaces in Korea which we haven't visited yet. Eventhough it isn't as big as Gyeongbukgung, it was really pretty too!
We went for lunch at the famous ginseng chicken restaurant, Tosokchon Samgyetang, which we go to everytime we visit Korea because the food there never disappoints!
We stopped over at Cheonggyecheon for a stroll then headed to Dongdaemun, which is nearby, for some shopping.
Didn't really do anything super interesting in this vlog but I hope you enjoyed it anyway!!

덕수궁 - Walking around Deoksugung Palace, Seoul, Korea
Deoksugung, also known as Gyeongun-gung, Deoksugung Palace, or Deoksu Palace, is a walled compound of palaces in Seoul that was inhabited by members of Korea's royal family during the Joseon monarchy until colonial period around the turn of the 20th century. It is one of the Five Grand Palaces built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. The buildings are of varying styles, including some of natural cryptomeria wood[citation needed]), painted wood, and stucco. Some buildings were built of stone to replicate western palatial structures.
In addition to the traditional palace buildings, there are also forested gardens, a statue of King Sejong the Great and the National Museum of Art, which holds special exhibitions. The palace is located near City Hall Station.
Deoksugung, like the other Five Grand Palaces in Seoul, was intentionally heavily destroyed during the colonial period of Korea. Currently, only one third of the structures that were standing before the occupation remain.
Deoksugung Palace is special among Korean palaces. It has a modern and a western style garden and fountain. The Changing of the Royal Guard is in front of Daehanmun (Gate) is a very popular event for many visitors. The royal guard was responsible for opening and closing the palace gate during the Joseon Dynasty. Outside of the palace is a picturesque road with a stone wall.

Namdaemun Market Korean Street Food & Deoksugung Palace - vlog #007
On today's adventure we're going to few locations Namdaemun Market 남대문시장, Deoksugung Palace 덕수궁, and Sungnyemun Gate (Namdaemun Gate) 숭례문. Namdaemun Market is the largest traditional market in Seoul and has sells tons of Korean Street Food. We're going to eating some delicious food like hotteok a Korean Pancake, samyupsal kebabs (pork belly), oysters, mandu (dumplings), and more!
We'll also be visiting two historical sights, Sungnyemun Gate (Namdaemun Gate) 숭례문, which is National Treasure no.1 in South Korea and Deoksugung Palace 덕수궁 which is nearby.
