Deoriatal is a small lake amidst green meadows (Tal means lake). The main charm of this place is the reflections of the snowy peaks during sunrise.
Stay put till the end of this video coz i am gonna give some Pro-tips on Essential things to carry and winter clothing. Also, things to keep in mind before heading for this trek.
While there are many places in India where you can see white winterland, but most of the mainstream destinations are bursting with tourists. If you are looking forward to a laid back, peace and quiet snow-world vacation away from the teeming touristy places, then consider hiking in Uttarakhand.
Chopta is an unspoiled natural destination lying in the lap of the Uttarakhand Himalayas and offers views of the imposing Himalayan range including Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhamba. And we are on our way to explore one such beautiful place from Ukhimath-Chopta region.
Right in the heart of the Uttarakhand, Ukhimath-Chopta region is a year-round attractions and adventure. This place always has the very best to offer in every season. Incredible landscapes, panaromic view of the Himalayas, several lakes, snowfall, jungle trek, night camping and a lot lot more!
I was very eager to see the Lake and my excitement didnt let me sleep properly as I was desperately waiting for the day to break. Even before my mobile alarm could wake me up, I heard Bhuppi the campsite guy calling my name and asking to vacate the tent coz it was snowing heavily. Thanks to the campsite guys they arranged my bed inside the kitchen and I slept for some more time. I got up at 7 AND I PANICKED AND peeked out of THE KITCHEN and what a stunning view!!! The entire place had turned as a fairy floss(Winter WOnderland). I had never seen anything as beautiful as this.
I quickly got fresh and started enjoying the fresh powdery snow. I have no words to express how surreal the entire place looked like. It was seriously a dream come true. I started hiking towards the lake and my first encounter with the serene lake with a backdrop of enchanting snow capped Himalayan peaks, just like a picture postcard, was so mesmerizing. The emerald lake at 8000 feet is a beauty nestled in gigantic peaks.
Deoria Tal, at an altitude of 2,438 Mtrs, is a calm and serene lake famous for its mesmerizing reflections of Chaukhamba Range in the crystal clear water.
Legend has it that the Devas would bathe in this lake hence it took the name ‘Deoria Tal’. Some believe that this is the same lake where the Pandavas were offered to answer the mystical questions asked by Yaksha to let them quench their thirst from the lake and only Yudhisthira could answer all the questions rightly and could revive his brothers.
Be it trekking, camping, watching Snow-capped mountains of Himalayas, enjoying the forest transforming into a winter wonderland, the frozen lake, Deoria Tal packs the entire Chopta experience in itself for you to cherish and remember for a lifetime. And yeah, you can easily do this trek even if you are a first timer.
There was no noise in the air; it was quaint as heaven.
Bidding adieu to Mount Chaukhamba looming into the pristine Deoria Tal Lake was difficult but the journey has to go on…
